How to set Pots on a MS3x

I am following Aaron Cakes guide on setting the pots for my ms3x on my S4 TII. I cant feel an indent or a click. Since they are clutched, can I just turn them fully counterclockwise and call it good. Is there any specific ohm reading they should be at? I pulled out my meter and set them each to 1 ohm on the lowest of the two values (while turn CCW).

I highly recommend to use the jbperf board or something similar if you want to use the stock CAS and avoid to use the stock vr conditioning on the ms3x or modified the CAS and chop one tooth 180 deg apart and use the 24 teeth wheel and use stock vr conditioning circuit on the MS board.

Get rid of the cas setup all together. Go buy the FFE hall trigger kit. I went though a nightmare trying to achieve zero sync loss. That being said i know some people who have got the cas to work perfectly...

I may go this option if I have issues. When you did this, did you have to do any modifications to the MS3x?

You will have to set the pots and jumpers according to the ms3x manual. Then select the correct ignition settings in tuner studio. I never get any sync loss with the FFE setup. Totally worth it in my opinion especially if you have some money in the engine and want to protect it.

FWIW, I messed around with a few iterations of the stock setup. I tried adjusting the pots multiple times, built a brand new shielded cable and ran it separately along the engine harness, regapping the VR pickups, converting a stock CAS to a 24-2 wheel, etc. I could never eliminate sync-loss properly.

I know a couple of other people who have told me that they couldn't eliminate the sync-loss issue and moved to the FFE kit. I also know a guy who knows a guy (well, I sort of know the second guy myself) who has never had an issue with his MS3X and the stock CAS. Seems to be luck of the draw.

I ended up welding a custom trigger wheel to my power steering pulley, and mounting an S10 crank sensor (hall effect) to one of the air-pump mounting holes. Perfect sync every time, no issues so far. Waiting until spring before I can test it on the road.
