Alright, couple quick questions.
First off, i've never built a circuit board, but i wanna learn. is it super super hard? or is it relatively simple? I've soldered wires together before, and i know its alot more delicate.
Running a S4 Engine in my S5 won't be a concern anymore because of the MS3 System correct??
now, for the Nerd Factor.... the 2 step will shoot flames and make loud noises right?

Thanks guys. Really Excited to Run MS3

No issue running the S4 engine in the S5 chassis with the MS3 as you really won't be using any of the stock wiring.
With the MS3, you'll want to use the V3.57 board as well as the MS3X daughtercard, so you really won't have any assembly past soldering a few wires and setting some jumpers.
The kit option kind of went away with the MS2 because the V3.57 board is the preferred board for the MS3 (though the MS3 will work on all boards).

There is actually still a kit option for MS3+V3 board since the MS3 will work fine with that board.
It will save some money over the 3.57 board.
However, since the OP has never really soldered anything, I wouldn't recommend that the MS v3 board be the first thing he solders. I'd still recommend a 3.57 board.

diyautotune.com is a great company, I ordered my MS3/MS3X v3.0 from them a few months ago. The shipping was quick and they answer any questions I've had via email within a few hours.
As for the assembly, the instructions estimate of 8-10 hours is definitely correct, it took me every bit of that. It was a great experience though, especially if you want to learn about electronics (that was my motivation, well that and cost lol)
Now I'm at the stage of trying to get everything setup and actually working, that's where the real fun begins...

Thats what i was looking at was the V3 Board. i have soldered wires in the past, i've repaired wiring harness's and installed stereos. but never Circuit Boards. would the V3 work fine with a S4 Rotary Turbo? i still plan to buy the MS3x Daughter Board cause i want the 2 Step Limiter

my budget is EXTREMELY limited. but if i'm better off going with one over the other i will save up that extra time and get the better option. i've been settling since i got my FC and i've finally made up my mind to get what i want. and Mega Squirt looks like an amazing product.

The V3 has the same features and abilities as the 3.57 it just requires you to build it, so yeah it'll run the S4 just fine. The MS3x is nice in that it has the second vr circuit on there as well as the stuff for stage injection.
So if you've soldered circuits before... for a S4 TII the MS3X v3.0 does everything needed?

You need those two items, plus the standard Megasquirt harness, and the MS3X harness.
Stim? Maybe. You can get by without it. By the time you buy the stim, you may a well by the assembled 3.57...

so Financially speaking i'm looking close to same price either way?
if thats the case i might as well just load up on the 3.57 so i feel better about the construction.

I've got a friend with a regular stim. I'm game giving it a shot and saving $100+ going unassembled. Just picked up the Turbo this weekend! Few more boxes moved out of the new garage and I get keep going on the clean up and assembly.
Regular blow off valve should be easiest with MS3X yes? Don't have to bother with a recirc because no maf/air flow sensor?

You'll learn a lot by building the unassembled one too. I'm glad I went that route.
As for the BOV, yeah a normal one is perfect, no need to recirculate it since you get rid of that horrid AFM....

thats one part that makes me want to build one. i'd feel more "one" with my car lol weird thought process i know.
this is a hard choice! lol
Whats your guys thoughts on using a MS2 instead of a MS3?

+2.
If you're going to buy something you might as well get the latest if you're able to. If you get the MS3X there's no need to build the 2nd VR circuit, also has provisions for boost control and just about everything else you'd ever want. On top of that it has a USB port already on there, as well as the SD card slot for logging.
Oh and I totally get what you mean about being one with the car. The stock FC electronics are so overly complicated it's silly.

So for those of us new to MS in the Rotary Community, is the MS3 wired the same for FC ignition as the previous MS? Or has someone come up with a comprehensive schematic for MS3X for a stock setup?
Sounds like it should be simpler since the VR circuits are already there.
And where is the best place for driving the stock tach? From the coil or the MS itself? (Especially in a FB?)
Thanks! Love the info and support here. It's confusing to sift through the slough of MS info out there!

You just wire Spark A to IGT-L, Spark B to IGT-T, and Spark C to coil select.

You can drive it from the MS but I'd need to know the details of how the FB one works before I could say how.
