Hmmm... first thing I would do is check the 37pin connector on the harness, I've heard of some of the prebuilt ones not being very good. I'd check all connections but mostly the grounds and the 12V supply. I think if these are bad they can cause power to be cut to the unit and a subsequent reset.

Yeah, resets only occur due to severe noise issues on the power supply, or due to grounds or +12v dropping out on occasion...

I recommend fixing the harness if that's the case, but sometimes you can get rid of them with some extra caps on +12v going into the MS.

I "improved the grounding".

Before!

I had both LC-1 back to ms back connector. And 5 wires from mega back connector to chassi ground which was near coils.

After!
Now I have both LC-1 grounds straight to battery negative on seperate wires.
I have an 8mm wire straight from battery negative to ms back connector. It splits into 7 strands at the connector.

Did it help with your reset issue?

Its slightly better, but still reseting occasionally. I'm going to separate the power for the mega from everything else, its going to have a personal relay that takes power straight from the battery.

I just put BR8ET spark plugs back in it, and the resets during running stopped. It will still reset during idle when the E-Fan comes on, I'm guessing its got poor grounding too.

The solutions

"Good Grounding"
"Using Resistive Spark Plugs"
"Powering ECU straight from battery (through relay/fuse of course) independently of all other devices"

Take the caseing off around the 37pin connecter on the wire harness. Check the solders or crimps of the wire to the pins. When I got mine from DIYautotune I was warned about the quality of the connector so I checked it and about 5 wires fell out as soon as I opened it up and touched the wires. I had to re-do my whole connector. My tuner had reset problems with other cars he tuned and the problem turned out to be the above.

Has anyone tried/tested 029y5 firmware using the 025 style decoder? That has a fix for the 025 style wheel decoder 5500rpm issue on 12-1 wheels. From what I gathered from different posts is the 025 wheel style is more noise tolerant then 024.

I'm running HR10F at the moment which is derived from 029y5

Seems fine.

No more resets at all, I just need to fix the stall problems and the car will be ready for a daily driver again.

I'm having problems keeping it from stalling coming off the throttle into intersections.

timing, AFR, and a dash-pot can help that... if not a dash-pot, then having a BAC valve often helps too.

Is that using the 025 wheel setting?
