If I jump pin 12 and 13 in the CPU socket and run mini terminal it repeats whatever I type. Unfortunately when I plug the CPU back in and type a capital S it returns nothing.

I am running a ms2 v3 with the 2.1.0d code.

 

make sure the boot jumper on the CPU is not shorted to both pins. This will cause a connection issue

 

I tried both positions. Same result each time.

 

Hmm. id check power to make sure its there. Id try a different computer or a usb to serial dongle. Id try to reflash, U can do a CMD force flash with the newer firmware. If nothing works id replace the serial controller on the MS after check all connections for it

 

Where do you suggest I check power. And what power am I checking? From the ra232 or the jimstim? I'm out of town for a few days but I would like to get home friday and at least know what is wrong. Thanks for the advice. I'll just check power everywhere and start from scratch with the code.

 

Ok, so I finally got the code to take properly, I can only assume that there was some issue with my usb port on my computer.

I initially loaded some older ms2 extra code and mega tune worked fine as did tunerstudio. So i loaded the ms2 extra 2.1.0d and now tunerstudio doesnt work right anymore and megatune doesnt work at all.

Im pretty sure the solution has something to do with renaming files and replacing something. But I have looked and looked and I cant figure out what I need to do. I think I am very close I just need some support/instruction.

 

Did you load the correct ini file? You can use copyini.bat if you are using megatune. With TS you open your project properties and let it autodetect with 2.1.0d.

OK I got tunerstudio working better by changing my jimstim settings to 36-1. Im pretty sure its not right but at least the tach does something now as opposed to when it was on the 24/2 setting I got no tach signal?

I still have nothing with megatune. Im pretty sure there is some file I need to replace or something.

Can someone set me straight here?

I should also note that I have the lm1815 circuit and this is for a 20b.

 

Yeah that's probably why tunerstudio is working but megatune wont even connect.

How do I use copyini.bat? What do I do with it? where do I find it?

 

ok I deleted all software and reinstalled everything now it all works. Still not sure of the jimstim settings.

 

I could not communicate with the MS once again. I tried another usb to rs232 converter on another port and that didn't help so I just reconnected the old cable to the same usb port it was on and voila! it worked. No idea what is going on here but it seems to be working for now.
