CAS no signal when installed (ms2)
CAS no signal when installed (ms2)
I have just finished installing a ms2 in my 84 gslse following aaron cake's write up. Everything seems to work fine except the CAS. It only provides rpm signal when not installed in the engine and spun by hand. I can take it out of the engine and spin it with the key on and get signal. The ecu also gets rpm signal when the car is being cranked and CAS spun by hand as well. It still works if you touch the cas case or the teeth to the block and spin it, but once its fully seated and installed I get no rpm signal. Ecu/sensors are grounded to the block and chassis/battery. I double checked the wiring and it all checks out.
This makes zero sense to me, so please if anyone has some ideas as to what's causing this, the help would be much appreciated.

That is definitely a strange one. Can you pop the cover off and verify that it turns when cranking the engine, and nothing weird is happening like the trigger wheels rising/falling out of alignment due to an endplay problem?
Apologies if you have already tried this.
I wonder, because I have never tried this myself, do you get an RPM signal when spinning it in either direction? It'd be silly if you were turning it the opposite way from how the engine does it... I THINK it would still read RPM going backwards but timing would not be stable.
