here is mine... finally running. Turbonetics turbo, large streetport, full megasquirt ignition and fuel, 1600cc injectors. Notice the slight brapping and streeported idle.

I'd say its proven... i've done about 12k-15k on mine with the MS and its still going strong (and i've been getting roughly stock TII fuel economy but with the heavier and less aerodynamic convertible body). I havent bothered to take another video, but for the most part its been fine on my daily-driven car.

In other words you cant get a whole lot. Like really push it.. LOL Hey so is it running good now or do you still have tuning problems like before. I think they do ok with n/a's but I have seen a lot of the turbo guys trash it and go with a real standalone. Either way is good to hear you can run it as a DD. But still cant take it to the limits.

I've seen plenty of people trash your "real standalones" and go with MS.

Most people that give up on MS wanted something cheap but weren't willing to put the time in to get it to work well for them.

I've been tuning eage8's turbo setup on ms2/extra, and his only issue has been that his wastegate needs ported, and we need to clean up his wiring. We were boosting to 15 psi on and off with no knock and no other problems.

Another benefit of MS2/extra is that James and I are constantly improving it. For example, I just added a staging mode to ms2/extra that allows you to stage on primary duty cycle. So if the primaries jump above whatever duty you set, you'll stage. This gives a smooth stage pretty much all the time. And for the turbo guys, I added a feature to delay the primary injectors' pulse-width reduction on staging so that there is time for the fuel from the secondaries to reach the engine, removing the common slight-lean spike on staging that a lot of people see.

In other words, MS is stable, it's used in a lot of high-power installations, it's still receiving constant improvements, and it teaches people how to build and install their own standalones.

So I'm not sure what limits you're talking about "taking it to" but I and many others have successfully tuned reliable turbo and NA vehicles on MS.

Ken

Running latest stable MS2Extra firmware, injector staging, fuel only.

Enjoy!
When I saw the guy coming towards you on the right side of the road it really freaked me out I thought he was going to hit you.

When he didn't I quickly figured out what was going on.

Still haven't seen anyone running MS in a major race track or competition and winning something to talk about. I mean you can see in the post after your last one here where it states the latest stable firmware. I know you have build many of these Ken, do you have any footage of these monster turbo set ups? I would love for you to share them with us. Thank Bro.

Most of the little issues i've been seeing are just that; very minor inconveniences that I can work around (but wanted to suggest a way to correct the core issue). Plus, i'm still on MS1, so i have less resolution than otherwise possible. I also auto-x the car and it does well (i'm more of the limiting factor than the ECU anyway).

The best fuel economy i've seen from it is 27 mpg over a tank, with an avg of 22 or so highway and 17-18 city.

I don't have a camera, but eage8 and I intend to take vids of his setup once he gets his turbo rebuilt.

If you want footage of big HP cars on MS, youtube is your friend. Just a quick search on there and I found the Huber Brothers' 2.3L 4 cyl mustang running on ms1 (EmsPro):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BNqDdlzjxI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnW4W6ot5kY

Last I heard that car is running 40 psi.

The guy who tuned that has tuned several other "big HP" cars, including a 400+ HP 2nd gen rx7.

Some other videos of MSed cars:

Twin turbo Studebaker at Bonneville (has records in this car with this setup)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW1qOCdzr58

DIYAutotune's miata:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtcEUN7jKIA

Just type "megasquirt" on youtube, and look at the pages and pages full of MS installs.

Most major race-track/competition drivers have sponsors, which means they have lots of money, and they go buy motec, or some other expensive option. It doesn't mean that MS can't run big HP engines, it means that people with lots of money don't buy MS. As I've said before, it doesn't matter what standalone you use, your mechanical tuning will determine what HP your engine is capable of. As long as the standalone can fire the spark plugs at the right time, and inject the right amount of fuel, who made the standalone doesn't matter. At least with the MS, you have the added benefit of knowing exactly how it was built and how it works when you're done!

I'm sure you can find plenty of MS users at auto-x events, several of them even winning (although that's as much the driver's skill as it is the car).

I won two SCCA ITS races (road racing) last summer. Not that anyone else cares, but I like to talk about it.
No monster engine - mostly-stock NA with exhaust mods (pesky rules).
