That's the one of the stupidiest mods ever. Make everyone think that you are modded while in fact you are just stock. I actually regret the gauges on my pillar because other than that, my car looks stock. Actually I wish that it was quieter (racing beat cat-back and resonated MP) so that way people wouldn't even know what hit them.

By the way, the guy was lowered, wingless, with rims, and an aftermarket catback. That's what cought my eye in the first place.

Good luck with that. You're either going to pay a huge(really huge) sum of cash for that, or you're just going to give up. Just swapping in a 3sgte without the AWD costs $10k+. It might be better for you to start with the 4th or 5th gen All Trac. The 7th gens really have no room for swaps aside from swapping a GTS engine into a GT.

 

I was thinking about putting an STi gearbox in a FC or FB, but that would be just crazy amounts of work. It would be really awesome, having a 600-700 awhp car that weighs 2,500 lbs though.

If anything, I'm tempted to keep my Subie and put an FC RWD gearbox in it. Save some weight, and have a better top end. :p But I like hauling butt on logging roads too much to give up AWD (there's a kit that can be used to convert from AWD to RWD in a matter of hours without dropping the entire tranny, but it's a PITA to install in the first place). Not to mention, I'd have to find a new rear end if I went RWD. :p The stock FC gear ratios would be a little... Wrong for a H4 NA car, I think a little short (FC redlines at 9k, right? Though there is a valvetrain upgrade that lets the Subies with H4's run 11k rpms reliably, just a little expensive).

is that a word? people put mods on their car for whatever reason. i put mine because i wanted to intimidate other cars ie; the civics, integras, and mustangs. but i wasn't stock either. but yea i agree with some other people on this thread evo's and sti's are probably some of the best all around cars you can get. you can go to any type of track event drag, roadcourse, auto-x and be very competative and dominate in the rally portions. lets see the seven do that hahaha. i love my FD but my sti still has my heart just because i could put that thing through the ringer and still feel bullet proof, the FD well you guys know its a princess.

 

try testing your top end against the sti's in muddy corners

 

Unless you have a serious suspension setup just for rally, I'd actually strongly suggest you not try this. Don't want to see any stories about an FD that spun out trying to race an STi offroad.

Simple answer: cause it's AWD. Putting down power to the ground AWD is superior,though.

 

AWD = superior traction.

AWD = More driveline loss due to friction in the 3 diffs that the tranny happens to have.

AWD = More weight.

AWD = More weight up front, due to the location of the gearbox and the front components of the tranny.

There's video up on Streetfire of an AWD Skyline lighting up all 4, then topping out at 205 mph. It took it roughly 23 seconds to go from a stop to 205 mph. That's less time than it takes my current AWD Subaru to go from a stop to 120 mph.

 

Well that was a highly modded Skyline....I think it was the Blitz skyline.....so you cant compare....lol so dont feel bad

 

Not to mention that Skylines are only AWD when the rear wheels slip. Otherwise they are fully RWD. AWD, but only when traction is needed. Badass cars...
