Yes, I've read a lot about Katech. They build the 24 hour endurance engines for the C6R. Some pretty insane stuff. I think I'll probably go with an LS-based engine with 8:1 compression and boost the **** out of it. Should make plenty of power for the rex.

I have a buddy of mine who's uncle pre-ordered a new GTR when they come out he will be one of the first to have one. I hear they are supposed to be pretty nice, but to be honest, I don't know who they decided to make an entire new engine, I am a bit skeptical about the V6 powerplant they are using now.

Friend of mine had an older R32 GTS-T. Sweet car even though it was a bit underpowered.
The new GT-R is going to be beating up on alot of our currently modded cars, however I still wouldn't own one. No manual transmission FTL.

And besides, who wants a Skyline, when it looks like a Chevy Cobalt??

The new GTR is a monster it will destroy just about anything out there. but It is a departure from the GTR that I loved , straight six twin turbo etc. Plus now that everyone and their mother (as long as everyone's mother has $100k to spend on a car) can buy one. Part of the joy of owning my GTR is that it was a rare car, sure there are cars that are faster than my R32 but they are much more common.
oh yah and the new GTR is one of the ugliest cars ever made.

Nice, racing a GTR. I thought the RHD comment was odd too, haha. I think the R34 is the last GTR I'll ever love. When they came out with the concept GTR in 2001, I LOVED it. This one is ugly as hell. As a matter of fact, Nissan's current designs suck...on every car they have. They should get back to the 280Z era.

There are actually quite a few LHD GTR's around, RHD is still more common tho.
All of the GTR's imported from Dubail are LHD. The law in lots of Arabic countries is that the car must be converted to LHD. People sometimes bring over the cars from there instead of from Japan because they are quite a bit cheaper in arabic countries.
They are usually beat to death there, and have little value there as people dont care for anything more than a couple of years old.
There are two LHD skyline R32's running around my city that were brought over from Dubai.
I have seen a few LHD GTR's in south america as well.

You can buy a bolt-on blower kit from the parts department of most Chevy dealers for that C6. It makes about 600 wheel horse at like 9 psi and still keeps the 100k mile factory warranty. That would be a closer match for "Godzilla".

I felt the same way about the new GT-R until I actually laid eyes on one. Pictures and video on the internet will never do it justice. IMHO it looks pretty kick *** in real life. There is one parked like 2 mins from where I live and I turn my head every time I drive past....the wheels are sweet too! I wish it did come with a manual shifter on the floor though.

PM reply sent. Can't go wrong with built and/or boosted LS....
As far as the new GT-R, I'm not a big fan of the styling or Nissan in general, but I have the utmost respect for this car for matching the acceleration numbers of the C6 Z06. I think they cost $70k. And being automatic and AWD, it's easy to drive consistantly fast. I hear it even has an auto-launch mode, that gets perfect holeshots every time. Little things like that are EXTREMELY useful 99% of the time on the street and track, even if they're not hardcore racer type options. Launching the Z06 and Viper is extremely hard. Anyone remeber the GMC Syclone?
( I do ) It was also AT/AWD, and ran low 4s to 60 mph and low 13s, not bad for a stock automatic V6 pickup truck in 1991...

Might look into Magnuson blowers while youre at it then...raced a vette with my own... he had 6psi, 550hp to the street, and spinning his tires, he was accelerating just as fast as I was with traction.

i saw the new skyline at this new car auto show in boston. i think it was in December i just remember it snowing when i was driving home. i was running back and forth between the skyline and the dodge challenger concept.(on that day they said they just got the ok to say publicly that dodge was going to sell the challenger to the public. crazey how half the most of the car is carbon fiber.)
correct me if iam wroung.
i know in japan there was the v35 skyline(states g35) thats was based of the 350z platform. theres allso going to be the new g37 state side. is there going to be v37 in japan?
if i under stand this right the new gtr is the super car skyline now (not useing r3x any more) and the v3x/g3x is the skyline the working man can buy.

I've been researching superchargers all week trying to decide. The magnuson seems to be the best choice for realistic (550-600rwhp) power goals for a street driven vette. They seem to put more power to the ground in the low to midrange, which is where you need it in most daily driven applications. Procharger is nice too, but you sacrifice low end for the big hit on top. Which is fine if you're looking for most (peak) horsepower.

GTRs are great and over here they are pretty cheap. Can pick up a decent 32 GTR for around 16k. And why did you say about seeing the headlights to distinguish it? Best give away is the **** of them. 32s have a tiny square ****, 33s have a big round fat ****, 34s have a kind of square big ****. Very easy. Also you can tell by looking at the spoiler if it ain't changed.
And as some people have said, yes the new GTR looks **** on the internet, but in person it looks awesome. Pictures don't do it justice. Just pity about the no manual. =(
