I come from a family where the only way to make cars is in America and the onkly way to make fast cars is with V8s. Now with that said, these guys have been engine building since the '60s and by now have a laundry list of cars most car guys would give their left nut to drive just once. My uncle and I are out in the 1967 Corvette (red convertible, side pipes, black 427 hood scoop). The motor is an L69 427 with a few go-fast bits that put down about 550whp, and all of that blows through side pipes with no mufflers, the sheer sound is something that cannot be duplicated.
Me and my uncle just got out of a car show and there is some Nissan 240SX at the light next to us. I don't know what had been done to this 240, but from the sound of the exhaust it desperately needed a new owner (it rattled more than it made revved). This guy looks over at us, revs up, and smiles. My uncle looks back over at him with one of the angriest faces I have ever seen, throws his cigarette and bounces it off the back window of the 240, then revved the Vette. He revved it up to about 2000rpms first, let it back down, then let loose up to around 4500rpms. The sound is near deafening at that pointand the pressure coming out of the side pipes actually rocks the 240 a little. The guy in the 240 just slides down really low in his seat with this defeated expression on his face and doesn't even launch hard at the light, but of course my uncle left at rather nice rubber donation and tore off with a force that makes one weak in the stomach.

Just thought I would share this story from the summer, not quite an RX-7 kill but who needs rotors when you have 8 pistons displacing 7 cubic inches of roaring power!

 

Wow you beat up on a 117hp 240. I think you should post this story where folks might get offended, like nicoclub.com or some other nissan website.

I think just a simple SR20 swap or KA-T setup would do it. No need to build up. Hell a stock FD would probably walk him. C2's weren't THAT fast. Even the 427 ones unless they were built for drag.
