question on killing a camaro Z28
Hey, Im planning on racing a 95 Z28, but I was wondering if my 87 TII with only the exhaust w/ no cat and a blow off valve will have a chance on killing him. His mods are only a intake and exhaust and its an automatic.
You shouldn't have much of a problem. If you go from a dig, he'll get you off the line due to his torque, but once your turbo spools, he should be reeled in quite easy. Auto Z's are turds.

totally false auto z28's have been proven to be on average a tenth of a second faster than six speeds
if he has intake and exhaust he should be around 13.8-13.9 and if you only have exhaust then you are a mid 14 to low 14 sorry but you will lose
put a boost controller on it and raise it 2 or 3 psi and it will be closer
Too bad 95's didn't come with a 6 speed
EDIT: It's got around 300 HP and 250 Ft/Lbs of Torque. PLUS the older Camaro's are slower when it comes to auto's vs. stick.
I bet it's been beat to **** as well. I'd call it close, but you being the victor.

I've found out that its not a z28, he just added the emblem on the back of his v6. I know it is because I have a friend that killed him with his integra ls today. so i know he shouldn't be a problem. thanks for helping out
One of my friend's owns a Z28, it does a 13.5 in the 1/4.
I set him up to race another guy locally that does a 13.1 in the 1/4 in his 240SX. It was a bumper to bumper race needless to say.
OH, it was an automatic. Automatics don't mean they are slow, you'd be amazed at what a high stall Torque Converter does.

Just so you know, Camaros can easily range from 17 second anemic pieces of **** to surprising sleepers. And, theyre probab'y all about as loud as the next one...
Theyre heavier (but not by that much depending on model and year) but have torque out the ***, aftermarket support that makes the FC and FD combined look like they just came out last week, and the potential to make INSANE power and can put it all down as much as their tires and the road will allow... and generally have drag suspension on them. FDs and FCs are tuned to handle and probalby too stiff in the rear for a good launch :P
The vast majority of them suck ***** and are stock, and are the anemic V6 models at that, But sooner or later youre gonna be surprised when someone walks you and you couldnt tell it from adam.
And yeah, I actually have a camaro, I'm currently involved in un-doing waht GM did to the poor thing with the 2.73 gear and TPI manifold! Those poor, poor 3rd gens...
It'll never outhandle a FD (hell, what will? LOL I'm on this forum for a reason) but ultimately I could take it down a strip easier and with less headaches than a FD because of the suspension design and the drivetrain layout, and the fact that it has a 5.7 liter and could be made much bigger without much effort, relatively speaking - when the time slips start getting really deep into the 12s... and with more reliablilty. Nevermind switching from NA to a blower or a turbo
That said, my parts car camaro is the biggest hunk of **** I've ever seen, and the IROC-Z has a blown out 3rd gear in its automatic tranny (MY Fault,
) and needs a lot of work to get out of the 14s. That TPI manifold and its long *** runners belong on a truck!

well a 95 will still run a 14.1 and where did you get 300 and 250
for a 95 they have 275hp and 325 ft/lbs of torque and even in 95 the autos are still faster than stick
but since its a V6 smoke his *** then kick it for being a retard and putting that on his car

it's a 98, so the numbers are prolly a bit higher.

just curious

v6 camaros are FAR slower than their v8 counterparts.
they are the budget camaros, just like v6mustangs are the budget mustangs.
They are for people who want the camaro name and not the camaro power.

If it WAS a z28 you were racing, I hate to say, but you would most likely lose with intake and exhaust, depending on the driver.
Since its only a v-6, it doesn't matter, you'll own him, but i had to set lovin straight.
