I've always thought the kills in this section were boring as ****. Maybe because they're all FDs though, and I'm not really into drag racing.

Most people are probably afraid to get flamed or have the thread die because theres no interest. I just never really cared, when running someone on the street you never know if your opponent was really racing. He could've just been an average joe that just wanted to get on the gas in his high dollar luxury car or go for a spirited drive in his sports car....

I guess I just grew out of the "oh and he got next to me and revved at me, I shifted to x gear and ROMPED it yo! then he gave a thumbs up....blah blah" lol

So this one time, I was pulling out of work in my stock '91 NA MR2 at around 9:00. It was a straight road and then had a couple of nice turns; maybe 4 main turns with a couple small ones in the middle. Well this Neon SRT-4 comes flying up my ***, then backs off, then pulls up fast again, backs off, etc. His turbo and BOV were going crazy behind me. So I downshift to 3rd and stomp it, and he's still playing with my *** like Michael Jackson with a 12 year-old boy. The first hard right came up, I braked to 45 and took it really well. After the second turn, I couldn't see his headlights. By the time I got to the stop sign ahead, he was about 4-5 seconds behind me on a road that takes 5-7 seconds for me to get from the first turn to the stop sign. I casually turn left and he destroys a set of tires along with his clutch and rev limiter going right. It felt great.

I have two different "kills" in my '89 NA RX-7 (stock) that are almost the same story. One involved an ugly green 80's Camaro, and the other was a late 80's/early 90's "pimped out"(AKA ghetto piece of ****) 4-door Olds. Both stories involve me turning out of the same shoe store, and cruising down the road going 45 (limit was 35). Both cars come up my ***, and after about 30 seconds of driving there is a sharp and steep downward right turn. The limit there is 25, and any car I see go around it usually takes it at around 30. So, keeping my 45 mph pace, I watch my rear view as I head toward the turn. We're getting closer and closer, and since I didn't show any brake lights they didn't bother to slow down. Well, as I get about 50 feet out of the turn I see their front end almost on the ground in the other lane because they slammed their brakes as they entered it. After that there is 5 seconds of slight downhill and a somewhat sharp left through an intersection that most people go out of the lane because it looks like you can take it faster than you really can. By the time I got to that, still going 45, they were no where to be found. Then, about 20-30 seconds up the road both drivers come flying up my *** all pissed off because they almost crashed trying to keep up.

In both of these stories I was laughing inside the whole time because my cars were not really close to their limits and these ricers, rednecks, and gangsters were no where near keeping up. The Neon kill really made me happy. It probably had 350-400 whp (judging by how fast a friend's SR20 240SX is) and he was getting beat by a 13 year-old low end stock NA sports car because he didn't have the intelligence to upgrade his suspension or brakes.

I know this is a long post, but are these the kind of stories you guys are looking for?

^ Ya pretty much. It's funny as hell cuz I drive a piece of crap corolla (it's the only car I have/my dd and I'm saving for a 7) and on the way home there's this steep exit where it whips right, then the large left hand corner where people tend to slow wwaayy the **** down to like 40mph and become brake happy as hell followed by an immediate short right hander where there's a split in the road (like 3 seconds later) where people slow down to like 15-20mph.

And what amuses me the most is people who tailgate me or wiz past me like they're bad as hell on the highway take the left hander at 40-45 mph and take the next turn at like 20ish mph
While here I am sticking it back to them (even if they're like 6sec.+ ahead!!) or leaving them behind heading into the 1st turn WOT and braking for a just a second and downshift at the apex to angle my car and full throttle through the turn at 50mph+ (60 when I was really pissed off). And then trail braking into the 2nd corner and accelerating on throught 35mph+ (40 was my max).

Lets not even begin with the S-corner later down the road. Now imagine what I could do when I'm serious and not bored and I finally get my FC

And to the guy above you, ya im not really down with just straight drag races, but they are still pretty fun for a short rush and unfortunately it's hard to ignore the capabilities of FD's so i guess.. all the 2nd and 1st gen. guys just needa speak out more to balance this

Doughnuts are always fun. I autocrossed my MR2 once in '06, and the RX-7 once in '07(same SCCA event @ Boeing in PA). The Philly SCCA has 4 places that run them. Boeing, which is 15 minutes away, and then the rest are 30-50 minutes form me. I'm definitely going to start going to every one to get some more driving experience, and because I'm hooked.

I always wanted to drive a course rather than in a straight line, but in November I went to Maple Grove Raceway (drag strip) and even though I prefer Autox, it was a blast. Maple Grove (PA), Atco (NJ), and Cecil County (MD) are all exactly 45 minutes from me so I am going to be visiting each one in between autocrosses this year. What I really want to do is get into hillclimbs, so I'm going to talk to as many people as possible and see how to get involved.

Got killed by a prelude in my 92 cavailer He was goin all fast and then he sees an all stock blue cavi roll by. Beat my friends jeep 2x and lost to a ridgeline. And did 110 in it and beat a golf. I do more racing with this car than my 7 lol and i have 4 rx7s man i wish i had one on the road. My cavailer has no mods and blown shocks if you need the setup. And it took like 5min to get to 110. But hey it gets good gas mileage

videos make the kills IMO. I always try to have the camera rolling if I know I'm going to be racing. This year watch for some in car camera on the strip. I'm going to try and mount it on the strut bar, should make for some interesting vids.

That being said I haven't even driven my car since Oct let alone gotten any kills. Well, I did get a couple in the fc but those are boring.

Thanks, You too!

Are there any good events happening at Gateway this year for imports? I'd like to make it over there and race sometime, just to get out of indy.

FWIW, last night I lined up against a Lamborghini Gallardo...

We were at a stop light, heading into the city. The light went green and I took off easy, so did he. His lane was to bare right, mine to bare left and he wanted to get over, so I hear this extremely loud roar come from the exhaust and he flies past me in about .002 seconds, in first gear. I didn't even try to race him...

I was in a bone stock 94 SC2 with 185,000 miles.

I'm hoping to pass most tech. If they went over it with a fine tooth and comb they would find stuff, but i hope to have all the obvious covered.

I would love to line up against an exotic some time. Thats pretty cool. There are quite a few Ferrari's and Lambos running around here, but its so rare to line up against one, let alone get them to race. I can't imagine the blow to an ego to get beat by a 93 mazda.

I'd love to line up against one in my FD as well. I've seen a "bunch"(like 5-6 which is a lot for any non-tropical area) of Lambos and Ferraris around here, but that was the first time I got to line up with one, and unfortunately I was in my SC2 =( It was really nice though. At idle and low RPMs, I couldn't hear his car at all but at WOT, it sounded like a freaking monster was trying to force its way through my door.

Belive it or not Sringfield Mo has the largest lambo sales co in the states. Its called motorcars international but you cant find any takers on the street there afraid they might get a scratch. As you know zinx there are cars that can beat you but not that many out running around. I fall in the catagory almost fast, then theres fast, and then damn wered he go? What gets me are old chevy pick up trucks with 350's and mustang 5.0's they all seem to have little man syndrome!
