Unhappy Own by a Ford, ThunderBird

today i was driving my way home when this thunderbird was tailgating me. so, i was just being normal and speed up a little cause i needed to merge to the right lane.
well, apparently he didn't like that and cut me off for that. " i was like WOW" at this point i was mad and pull next to him and roll down my window and told him " what you want a piece of this?" how immmature and stupid of me, i was just having a bad day and unfortunately i took the bait and we were ready. first run he smoke me bad i was distracted looking at him ****, wanted to kill him so we go at it this stupid car was merging to my lane so i slow down and he beat me. 2nd run i was asking him about his transmission stick or auto he wouldn't stare to me or reply and green light hits and he rans off and i lose.

first thing i thought was about you guys. i have a N/A 90 vert. i know, i know is not fast any other car could beat me, but like i said, i was mad of what happened to me earlier the day and wasn't thinking straight and race this guy. i made my self look bad for you, Rx7 Owners. sorry guys, i am truly, am. in fact, i hate the vert and i want to sell it and get me a T2. it is hard here in the forums every one wants one. i am located in SOCAL if you know anyone please let me know.

HAHA J/K...Stop crying guy. Just do a T2 swap, or a 13BREW swap. Quit your whining. Use it as inspiration!

Dude, relax you drive the slowest RX-7 to ever roll off the assembly like, don't get pissed about V8s beating you. If you had a turbo or FD, then sure you can start getting pissed, but the Vert gets smoked by like stock Civics

Well, if you shop around ebay, and the junkyard, you can get a good donor engine for about 80 bucks, and all the rest of the parts for under 2k...T2 trannys are going for about 300 on ebay...and there are people selling the housings if you want to go that far.

Anyways, for a full setup (24x18x3 intercooler, stock turbo, XS power manifold, 1320cc Ford injectors, T2 trans, and donor engine, as well as BOV, and external wastegate) I think ive spent maybe 2k.

Just gotta shop around and find parts as cheap as you can for the stuff you know you can use. And then if you find parts you think that you could ethnically rig and use, pick them up too.

Those thunderbirds are very slow off the line but once they hit about 60 they have really great top end for a big sedan!

A $10k FD is a rolling chasis that you get to drive home. If you're lucky. Also, purchasing an FD is the cheapest part of ownership. If you have $10k extra that you can spend on a car, I'd reccomend getting a clean S5 TII and saving the rest for a rainy day.

Thunderbirds aren't fast, but they are fairly quick for what they are. The throttle by wire + auto combination makes for a really numb driving experience in them...

Hurry, go buy some power! Seriously though, you really should do the tII swap or one of the many other options before you race anyone else. Just save yourself the embarrasement. Nice try though.

Rule #1 when you're behind the wheel of an FC vert:

Absolutely positively NO racing! (exceptions: Mopeds and Vespas)

My vert has intake, high flow cat, borla catback, and aluminum flywheel, and it's still dogshit slow.

Rule #1 should be... except on twisty fun roads where you can have fun. Sure my Vert gets beat from a roll but once rolling you can't lose me!!!

*edit* wish my Vert had 160hp hah!

Aren't some of the Thunderbirds supercharged? I know not all of them are, but some of them had the Eaton M90. No intercooler, but any boost is better then no boost.

It's called a SuperCoupe. 3.8L V6 with a roots blower. They made a TurboCoupe too, which was basically an SVO drive train in a T-Bird.

Whoa I'm sorry. I know what he was talking about. For some reason I was thinking of the 01+ Thunderbird with the 3.9 V8. If THEY came with blowers, they would be sick little coupes.

God Bless,

The new T-birds have a 3.9 liter V8 with 255 hp. Not super fast, but would definitely slaughter my old '91 Vert with Racing Beat headers...
