Smile My 97 Supra vs Cousin’s 93 RX7

Hey guys, just thought I would share my first race with the new car. Last Thursday I purchased my 1997 limited edition Supra twin turbo. The car is completely stock but I am enjoying every minute of it. It took many years and some hard work to get my dream car but I now own it.

Tonight I ran my cousin’s 1993 RX7. We thought it would be fun to see the outcome of these 2 beautiful JDM super cars. His only mods are an HKS exhaust and HKS down pipe. We ran twice off a 1st gear roll. We both go and I shift in to 2nd and he is already pulling, then I shift in to 3rd and his rear bumper is at my front bumper. We go all the way up to my 4th gear and he has about 2 cars on me. We run again with the same outcome.

Just wanted to get your guys feedback on the outcome, is this accurate? We both are good drivers and know how to run the cars. Thanks.

Get a boost controller and turn the boost up to 17psi. Now that would be a closer race.

haha, thanks guys, I knew I was going to lose but my cousin thought I would win, lol he's always wrong

I wish there was a supra forum like this one, but for some reason supraforum is down. I would love to get more knowledge on the car and aftermarket for it.

I think my first mod is going to be an HKS titanium exhaust with down pipe. Can’t wait! Thanks.

Huh? It's 1.3 liters on a 13B. Nice race though. Supras with basic bolts ons are pretty quick.

You know whats funny is, not only was I the one who taught him how to drive his RX7, but I was also the one who searched and searched to find the perfect RX7 for him. It took a while but he also owns his dream car. Thanks to me

because of the way rotaries work, they get twice the power strokes per revolution. so if comparing to a piston engine, you double the displacement.

more like 600-700. FDs are ~2800 and supras are ~34-3500.

I have never driven "driver" side of a Supra. Tell me, Why do you love the car so much? I mean is it the interior? Does it cruise or rev smoothly? Torque maybe? Just curious what get's people so off on driving one car rather then another. More specifically these two cars.

i have driven both..really you have to drive it to know..im not saying every single person who drives a twin turbo supra stock or even modded will love the car to death but it def is a good feeling..

i havent driven a stock supra, i have driven a 500+rwhp supra since basically i have like 7 friends with supras lol...they tell me to just get one so i can join the club haha..anyway its def a good feeling to hear that engine when you go wot, THATS prob the most addicting part is the sound and the pull (in my case, a big single) of the engine..

its really hard to explain, supra guys know what i mean

its just a great car

My friend has the titanium on his supra and its awsome 4" piping is badass, I think that the Rod Millen Motorsport (RMM) Downpipe is actually a better choice than the hks, I belive that that the RMM DP gives you like 40 rwhp alone

Well I have always loved the Supra, even when I was younger. All my life I have only owned Toyota’s. My first car was a 93 Camry, then I purchased a Celica, then a 2002 Celica. After that I purchased an MR2. When the time was right I went for my dream car which was the Supra. Everything worked out for me and I purchased it.

But the car is just great all around, handling, power and looks. I love it and am very happy to own one.

start modding the heck out of it and post up some pics

it's soooo easy to hit 400 rwhp in a Supra, and at that point you could pull your friends near stock FD from a high speed roll, easily

personally, I will always believe the FD is pure sex and the Supra looks kind of bulbous, but thats just me....heaven knows we FD owners put up with alot of crap to enjoy our sexy rotary time bombs

how about if I race you in my new '05 Corolla XRS with the Yamaha designed 2ZZ engine? haha...ultimate daily driver imo....reasonably quick and great mileage
