MKIII Supra turbo vs 88 RX7 vert

Thursday night the track was closed and there were alot of people in halls. So I am cruiing up and down the strip trying to pick up some ladys and I keep noticing this dumbass in front of me in a MKIII supra that keeps rolling bockwards down the slight grade and almost hitting me., but from the way the motor sounded, it shifted like an automatic. So we are coming out of halls going towards maynardville (at my usually turnaround point where I turn around to go back into halls, and we both catch a red lamp. I pull up next to him and told him nicly that he almost hit me and should be more careful. He said,"it can't make that pos look any worse" (his car sounded good, but you could smell the oil when driving behind him). I just looked foward and he said "hey *** wipe, let me teach you some manners, let's go" I said I don't want to race, he continued to taunt me. the lamp turned green and he steped on it, the light hit the tail sticker just right, and I saw the turbo sticker I was like cool, I gota try this. so I am at like 3000revs in first and he has about a car on me. I get on it and my front bumper automatically catches up to his rear and I shift to second and fall a bit back (he has an auto) I catch up dead even in second and fall back where my front bumperis at his door jam, and shift to 3rd, and pull ahead of him, then I put on my brakes to turn into a parking lot to go back towards halls, and the moron passes me on the left while laying on his horn and holding the bird out the t-top on a double yellow line road while I am turning left. I did far better than what I thought I would, but I dont this his motor was in that good of shape, because I could see blue smoke in the night when he was getting on it. Mine is near perfect condition. It was a turbo though, I heard the spool. The sound of this race was the reason for my decicion to do a TII swap on my car.

What car do you have? What kind of engine swap did the Supra have?

I have a bonestock 88 rx7 with short shifter and bushings. I don't know what he had. I don't think his motor was swaped either. it was the late 80's-early 90's supra.

yeah thats about right for a bone stock low compression motor that when it was new only laid down 150hp. t2 swaps are great for verts. Its the best second gen imho. And if you are in Tennesse you can have Kevin Landers at Rotary Resurrection do your swap. Good luck with everything.

I'm raising the BS flag on this one.

As an owner of both.

FC verts are slow as ****. Everything about your story reaks of bullshit to me.

Hope everything works out in the end.

It could've had a blown turbo, judging by the smoke/oil smell. A stock MKIII auto isn't fast in the first place, so if it has a blown turbo then there is a good chance it would lose.

I just parted out my MKIII, should be getting another in a couple weeks.

I have a 90 FC vert and i have no problem taking down my buddy's GXL. Usually after 2nd i have about 5+ car lengths on him. I have a full exhaust, Intake, ACT clutch and emissions removal. He just runs an intake.

Feel free to post opinions. If I didn't thought I could have taken him I wouldn't waste my gas on him. It was only my 2nd streetrace ever. I wanted to see how much I lacked, and how slow my car really was, but I won, so I decided hey, What the hell, why not post this here and get others comments.

Sorry for being so newbish, but can you still hear the turbos wine when it's blown?

I have a 5 speed stock nonturbo Mk. III and IMO they are faster than a nonturbo 7... even with a lot more weight they've got 40+ horses on an FC. I think his car was running like ****. Still a kill though.
