From a dig I am sure my brother's 12A could take a cobalt SS for some distance. He's got a 79 SA lightened with a Mikuni, no accessories on the engine and an open Racing Beat exhaust. Oh yeah, some unknown ratio diff gears. The car was a dedicated track car, but is on stock ports still. We still find weird mods every now and then.

The things eats my S5 GXL FC with Headers and a ported intake. He beats new eclipses and all kinds of modded civics around here. I'll tell him to hunt down an SS cobalt to find out what woudl happen

 

wish i could have that race again just to prove it is possible. I've got the new motor in and almost running so it probably wont be close now.

 

im not saying it isnt dude....im just saying the guy in the cobalt didnt know how to drive it...it always a drivers race no matter what u have under the hood.

1. Are you sure he was racing?
2. It 95% likely was not the SS/SC...maybe just a base model with badges or jsut the SS with the 2.2L NA
3. As for those times in the 1/8, thats great and all but I ran a 14.01 in my SS/SC with just drag radials and no traction mods, after I eliminated the wheel hop I ran a 13.82 on drag radials with just traction mods...by the way...these are 1/4 times

So what I can determine is that you are either pulling the BS card....or he was just a ricer with badges and so forth...

 

it was a two door with the ss badge one the side the stock 18" chrome wheels and the big stock wing with a ricer pipe you tell me does that sound like an ss or not.

^The ss non supercharged is a 2.4 putting out 174bhp and usually comes with the lt stock wing found on the 4 door and 2 door models.

well maybe he just cant drive ive talked to the guy since then and he said he was on it really hard. he didnt know what the h**l was next to him he saw the exhaust pop and figured it had to be something in it. he got mad he lost to something like that. especially after he found out what i had not done to the car. he thought it was a Nissan 280z or something.

ive ridden in a ss/sc and they would rape the hell out of my FB...my neighbor had his friends 6sp and raced it against his brothers magnum and smoked him

 

ok the ss/sc is a 5 sp 2.0 eaton supercharged putting out an estimated 205 hp 200ftlbs. they have been dynoed with way more then that. differences between the ss and the ss/sc is body molding.the sc has lower lip kit. it says supercharged on the side. and rear of the car. the exhaust is a tuner sound but isnt a huge can.

so i doubt you raced one. you can get the ss/sc wing as an option or order seperately for any of the cars

well it really doesnt matter now the old motor is out so we will never know how the old one runs again. im just telling you'll what happened the thing said supercharged it had a big wing and one of those ricer cans on the exhaust pipes. i beat him and talked to the guy after wards so pi*&^ off.

I have raped ss/sc cobalts with my srt-4 when it was stock. there is this one kid that keeps buying more mods just to try and beat me. the last time we raced he had stage 3 setup , with a dump and a tune. I had just an intake, wastegate, and exhuast and beat him by 5 cars with my brother in my car. His best time was a 14.09 in the 1/4 with his spare tire, back seat and other stuff taken out for "weight reduction". now he's going 50 trim turbo to try and beat me lol. I told him next time I'll race him in the corners with my 88 GTU lol.

 

Don't get butt-hurt just because your FB isn't fast. It is what it is man. Only way you're going to get rid of criticism here, is to mod that FB up and actually make it break 13's in the 1/4 mile.

Judging from your 1/8 mile times, my old s14 240sx with the stock KA would have beaten you. And it was a slug.
