well i haven't raced yet but i want to hear opinions from forum members about this car. well the other day i was working on my S5 TII, installing new radio, speakers etc. well my friend calls me and tells me his neighboor was working on his sti so i told him that when i finish i was going to his home to see if i could talk to the sti owner since i saw him a while back and im itching to do a race or 2 with him. my friend stops at my house and i told him "let's go to the sti" he tells me ok, so we go and as soon as i let the bov do the singing on the front of my buddys home the sti owner look at my car and smiles, i do also since i know he wanted a shot also. he tells me " does it move well" i replied "it does his job" lol. he tells me if i wanted to race and even if i didn't want to i had to refuse because i installed my microtech and i haven't tunned it. he tells me what hp i was looking for and i told him 300whp or so( really don't know what ill be pushing) he replied with a smile on his face " i don't want to be cocky but it's going to be a little difficult for you to catch me" at that time i said to myself "well a fc or fd with 300-350whp is pretty respectable so if hes that confident he has to have at least 380-400whp on his car'' all i know if that it has exhaust and if im correct it sounded like it had aftermarket cams because the idle was hell of a different from all the stock sti's ive ever heard. does sti's with 350-400whp are good from a roll????? im freaking excited to race this car as im going to tune my car on the wekeend.

my mods: t3/t4 turbo front turbo housing was upgraded wit a t04b 50 trim, 800cc secondaries, rb turbo back, turbosmart bov,turbosmart bc, turbonetics evolution wastegate, koyo rad, spalm e-fan, microtech lt-8, aeromotive fpr, walbro 255fp, im gonna run14-15psi max.

Well it is a flat four and those subies do sound kinda lopey. I wouldnt really worry about it if you know how to drive. I beat one on 4-5lbs and untuned in my turbovert with stock turbo, exhaust , streetport, fmic, etc. He had exhaust and intake from what i know. I also beat a plain wrx with alot of parts running 22lbs and i had him by three cars at 135. He was really suprised. That was on about 5-6lbs. There not all there hyped up to be if you ask me. I do like the way they sound though.

Well ill help you out. My friends fc, who had all mods you have, excluding the upgraded turbo would put about 1.5 cars on a 04 STI with intake/exhaust. And this kid can DRIVE his sti, very well. Now you said something about cams. I doubt it, you have to pull the whole motor to put cams in an sti, it is VERY expensive.

siguy2k:Unless the guy with the STI cant drive for his life/didnt down shift, i call bs on you. There is no way you can outrun an sti on 5-6 psi on a stock turbo! STIs are VERY quick from low rolls. And btw, WTF is a flat four? They are called boxer engines lol.

thanks for the info man and about the cams, i have heard a lot of sti's and none of them had an idle like this one, it sounds way different but who knows, also i think he does the mechanic by himself and his friend so money is not an issue. they seem like they know there game but well see how the outcome turns out.

I bet you that the STI has an exhaust and an intake nothing special he just probably doesnt believe that your pushing 300whp which you should be above with those mods anyway. I wouldnt worry about it I have raced them with my FD and beatin them easily and that was with 260WHP. Good Luck

actually.. now that i think about it.. i guess it is possible.. because ive never seen an sti run anything better than a 14 in person. lots of posers rolling around in those things



so.. let me rephrase my bs call... it may have happened, but it shouldnt have.. whats a streetported 13b make on 5psi.. 200whp? whats a vert weigh? im guessing around 3000 lbs with a driver... in the cars i build 200 whp in a 3k lb car isnt going to get anywhere near a 12 sec pass without a hell of a suspension and tire setup and a tailwind



anyway.. id lol like hell if i took down an sti in a car like that, so i award to you one prop sir. carry on

^ Yeah I didnt really think i would have him. His front bumper was at my back bumper. We raced through 2nd and 3rd. He was just some young rich kid so it doesnt really surprise me. He told me its the fastest rx7 hes seen. Granted there are not a lot around here..

Trust me, i have been in and driven my friends plenty of times. I dont understand why you think a flat four explains it better than boxer, the engine is CALLED A BOXER. If you walked up to someone and said "what car comes with a flat 4" they are going to look at you and laugh. if you walk up and say "what car comes with the boxer engine" they are going to know exactly. They are what they are hyped up to be, handling like its on rails, awd, plenty of power to beat up on what they need to. My buddy had a stock s4 turbo at that time. My friend now has a t-66 with a ported motor. My STI friend has intake, exhaust, front mount, and a cobb. He wants another go, but we all know who will actually win that.
