Talking First encounter with an NSX

I had my 93 VR RX-7 touring out last weekend for some enjoyment. Another local FD owner and I decided to go for a drive around some nice twisties out here in the greater Seattle area. Eventually we called it quits and headed back north to drop him off and continue on my way home. I was still about 15 miles from home driving on I-5 north and there was a bit of lingering traffic from the Seahawks game that had ended about an hour or so before. I could see in the distance behind me a bright red car... Looked fairly sleak and small. Couldn't quite make it out in the mirror. Curious as to what it was I continued to watch my mirrors hoping whatever it was would get closer and I could make it out. Well my prayers were answered! As traffic stopped the HOV lane continued and here it came... A bright red NSX that appeared to have lowering springs and some nice 18" wheels and obviously had a very nice sounding exhaust system. Other than that I couldn't tell you what mods it may have had. About 2 miles up the freeway I noticed he was trailing behind a little... I got the clue... Traffic was starting to pull ahead and he wanted to see what our cars could do. I dropped into 3rd and let the car rop back next to him. His buddy gives a thumbs up and we both hit it. I slowly pulled about 1/2 a car on him then shifting into 4th started to pull away much easier finishing about 1.5-2 cars ahead before we had to shut down to prepare for slower traffic. I'd say based on where I was at thru 4th gear it was probly about 110-115mph shut down from a 45mph roll. Fun stuff! I wish we could have continued, but whatever. He got back next to me and he and his buddy gave me a thumbs up and I hollered some compliments about his car. Got a "Thanks" and then we were on our way to seperate destinations.

My mods: HKS Intake, HKS FMIC, HKS SSQV, TurboXS MBC (set at 14psi), HKS 3" DP, RX7store 3" MP, HKS HiPower CB, Apex'i PFC, 16"x8" 99spec wheels

Awesome, congrats! All the NSX owners I've ever heard of were jerks so it's good to hear of a cool one. I was actually gonna see what the 7 community was like up there cause I may be moving up there, to near Olympia or Tacoma. Maybe I'll see you someday, haha.

Sounds like a friendly encounter with a pretty decent car. Nice write up, and nice kill.

actually I was surprised of the outcome. That NSX must have some pretty decent $$ dropped into it. Cool.

Good kill.

I love NSX's so does my GF. One of the times that we saw one she turned to me and said. "those are nice cars, maybe you should consider getting one". I replied that yeah I really liked them except that IMO as much $$ as they go for they are embarrassingly slow, and that tt takes some serious change to make them hold their own. Despite what I just said, everytime I see one, they are pure sex.

Oh yes, the NSX was pure sex... And I would have to say it rivaled my car's sexy exhaust tone... I wouldn't be surprised if it was modded a bit, it had a couple stickers on the side of the rear glass and he was strapped in pretty tightly. But, I've never raced one so I can't tell you the difference between stock and his... Beautiful car though!

stock NSX's are about as fast as a stock FD. In otherwords, not very impressive

Are you comparing stats of 1/4 mile, 0-100mph, etc...

Or are you speaking of similar top end performance like freeway runs?

NSXs are cool cars, no doubt. Sophisticated Japanese sports car. Everyone always expects them to be some Ferrari killer, when that was never their intent. 270 ponies only goes so far, after all. The fit and finish is just spectacular on the few that I have seen up close and personal.
Very nice. I could see myself owning one.

I spotted the NSX last Friday night at the local hockey game... Same 2 guys cruising the streets... I looked at my buddy and said "That's the NSX I raced!!!" He turns to me and says "Why is it so loud?" lol

That's really surprising, never even heard of an outcome like that. Lol, I've never encountered a person that after they get beat actually give you the thumbs up on your car. Cool. Maybe I just need to get out of Spokompton.

You and Aaron get all the fun races. Heard he got a chance to race a Ferrari F430 the other night.

Anyway, nice kill.

I forgot I took some pictures of the NSX about a mile North after we raced I thought I saw the car at the NW Toy Run for Toys 4 Tots but it was a newer NSX than the one I raced, same wheels tho and same sticker on the window...
