You seem so caught up in the EVO being cheap to mod. A junkyard Pinto with a big block is much cheaper and faster than an EVO or FD but I think we'd both agree we won't want it.

That's true.

..... the fd was made till 02 in japan... and 95 domestic.

hmmm... wonder why the rx7 was made for 23 years? oh yes... it reinvented the sports car, right there along with the datsun z series (70's)

I like the evo's, I really do... good family sports cars, although ugly interior. But you guys always like to talk your **** when you bring up awd. good launch, thats great, what about top-in? Moddified 7's can goto 9+... what can you goto ? 7... maybe 8? and you have significant power loss... guess what, we dont.

Good luck finding that fd owner... then crawl back to your evo forum.

peace

Ok guys enough about the evo, to the owner of the evo yes its a good car and performs well but this is an RX7 forum. Now the owner of the black FD pictured is named Javier. If you want more info on the kit you can call Ken at shine auto.

I dont mean to support this guy as he sounds like a bit of a tool but he is right about the evo in Mid 7's it belongs to a mate of mine, Andre from Speed Tech in Wellington, New Zealand.

Anywho evo's are still just a family car with a turbo bolted on the engine, I havnt met an evo on the road thats been able to eat my 7 or even come close!!! And another mate just swapped his evo 8 for a 1993 FD with 700hp at the wheels. He saw the light and is now actually having fun in his car.

Hey Nice Evo!!! yes I love Mitsubishi I just wish they were legal in Canada!!!! ohhh well you can get a JDM Evo I now but.......anyways my only complant about this tread is the rotary engine IS realiable!!! that is why it WINS endurance races!!!.....Bad tuning and bad upkeep kills it....there my vent is done. Congrats on the EVO it is a great car, the most practical sports car on earth, well the WRX is there too.

Evo 8/9's run 11's in the 1/4 mile w/ only a $1,000 invested and 4g63's last more than 100,000 miles(unlike the rotary motor). I know damn well I didn't buy the wrong car! I was just looking for a sporty daily driver and i don't think the fd would b the way to go because the unreliable engine.

If i put 5g's into an rx7(fd) and my evo... the evo would still be faster and more reliable. Trust me bro, i've had my fair share of wins against ferraris and m3's etc... That fd that I saw on the fwy had more than $10,000 invested into it(at lease).
1k in mods = your car is slow. i haven eaten evos with much more invested.

All this talk about 1/4 mile times and no one has mentioned a little white FB going 7.1 in the quarter with just a little 13B under the hood. Buddy yes your EVO is nice its a good car BUT dont compare it to a Rx-7 thats a different level. You have a ECONO box NOT a sports car. Rx-7's thats a real sports car.

Ken from ShineAuto is friends with him. I can only describe the owner as "Santos' little brother" - whoever he may be. Dont know if he posts on the forum though.

I know of 5 or more people that have fd's w/ls swaps on the evo forums and there are alot of shops that offer this swap. HMMM... I wonder why mazda stoped producing fd's after 3 years(93'-95')

Umm jackass the FD wasn't stopped being produced after 3 years. It just stopped being importd to the US thanks to 1996 OBD II regulations, along with the 300ZX, the Supra, and the 3000GT VR-4. All cars mentioned were produced up untill 2002 I believe. You really should get your facts right before trying to claim **** on the RX7, and that the Evo is the best car int he world. You got beat by a very good car, deal with it and move on asshat. And learn to ******* spell! Reading your posts are giving me a headache.

well.. the fastest rotary powered car i've seen so far run's 6's. It was sporting a boosted 20B with a shell of a Mazda MX-6...and the fastest Rotary powered Rx-7 i've seen so far ran low 7's.. and it won't be too long before it gets in the 6's...the fastest Evo I've seen so far runs 8's.. and probably no better than high 7's... so until i see an EVO do better than 7's... Rx7> Evo

LOL at a $30-35K sticker price you are comparing a $40,000 overrated mitubishi to an FD which MAYBE cost $24-33. (a MINT roller with low miles is 10K + 400hp powertrain for about $10K-15 + body $4-8K)

ohh and have fun trying to pull 1 lateral G in your 4 wheel drive hahaha

Evo's make great family cars seats four hauls grocerys well and gets around well in the snow. And there pretty fast with some boltons. But i dont have small children, i have a buick 4 door for the grocerys, and a suburbon if it snows, and when i want to go pretty fast and with sporty style i go to the garage and get the 7. Not to mention all the evo guys were i live give me thumbs up when i drive by. To each his own i guess!

Im not even that big of a rotary guy and even i know you will spend less on a rotary motor to make the same power out of your evo motor, cmon now man use your head. Yes rotaries you have to rebuild but its much cheaper than rebuilding an evo motor. I could build a rotary motor 2 times and put money into making it fast and still spend less on an fd than you would spend to just BUY the evo outright so i dont see how you can say that.

I love evos though.

If you want a real mans sports car drop a rotary into a tiny rwd platform that weighs around 1500lbs and boost the **** out of the motor, put some coilovers on and some rcompound slicks and go racing thats a real mans sports car right there. Custom and rotary powered (im biased though i have a 1500lb rwd platform to build off of lol) All i need is a stock turbo 2 motor and i will be very close to a high 10 sec quarter time if i can get the car to hook, if i make 350whp i garuntee at least a 10.5 if the car hooks. Just imagine say around 575whp in 1500lb car with good traction thats enough to beat any street car i have EVER seen. Too bad i'll probably be flying through the air lol i dont think my car has enough down force to be able to handle the speed lol
