2 kills for the gsl-se

my kills: bmw z3 / modded prelude.

i guess i will list my mods, ive got a holley 600 cfm, rb full exhaust, no cats, removed EVERYTHING, rats nest, ecu ac, ps ect ect..... stripped the hatch.

ive been havign throttle cable problems for the last month, stock gsl-se throttle cable is way too long and has way too much slack.

well after getting a new throttle cable and finnaly being able to open my secondaries, ive decided to see what kills i can grab.

first kill of the weekend was yesterday, it was about 11am i was cruising on hwy 110 wiht my girlfriend in the car, i was in a bit of a rush so i was going a good 85, i see a red convertible up ahead and decided to get it moving a little faster to go check it out.

as i get closer i see its a z3, i figured "meh, bmw driver with roof off, doesnt like playing" and just kept about my buisness.

well, we caught a light together and he just gave my car the once over, as well as my girl haha.

i look at him and give him a nod....

sitting patiently at the light waiting for it to turn green, i had no intentions to go launching off the line against somone who wouldnt want to run.... boy was i wrong

he just floored it and chirped 1st, i went, oh man and eased into it as im learning if you floor a carb'd car it bogs horribly, he's a car ahead in first i catch second and pull 2 cars till mid of 3rd. he had a big grin / shocked looked, waved at me and i gave him the thumbs, what a blast.

second kill, i guess i will keep it short, my friend trace got a new prelude, modded.

we met up at the gas station and asked to cruise.

his mods, skunk 2 intake, full exhaust, jdm lude engine which apparently is a DOHC....cams, pulleys and a v-tec controler.

ok ok, keeping it short....2 runs, from a stop i launch at 3k he launches i immediatly jump half a car and keep there throught 1st and second, pull him a car and a half in 3rd and then another half a car in 4th.

we go again from a 60 roll ( little does he know of the gsl-se's magical 3rd gear )

he honks three times, i drop it into 3rd after i hear him floor, jump half a car, then a full car into half of 4th, shut town at the start of 5th....

fun night, im loving this new carb setup.

all of this with my light mods and on a STOCK port engine.

Cool, now you have to tune out that bog. You probably need a larger accelerator pump squirter to get enough fuel into the engine to cover the transition. The nice thing about Holleys is that parts are easy to find.

Nicely done.

I have a similar setup to yours and am pretty happy with it. (thinking about some 4.44 grars in the back though)

Did you catch what motor the Z3 had?

seems to me a carb bog is from TOO MUCH FUEL. Am I wrong?

it bogs from the quick change of little gas being poured in to WOT. The transition isn't smooth thats why it bogs. Nice kills though.

thanks for all the positive comments.

the car is a blast to drive, what a difference over the stock efi.

im still not used to the carb problems, you know, bogging from going WOT too fast, or cornering too hard.

but i really want to take it to a track, the prelude i ran is a proven mid 14 car, timeslip and all. i cant say its bad driving on his part as its an auto.

less then thrilled by it you mean?

i love it, then again, ive never owned a boosted car, so im sure my oppinion will change when my "drop a rew into the se" fund is full.

the look on somones face when you pop the hood after beating them is priceless, a bare bones 13b with just a carb and exhaust....

and you point out that they have been beaten by a 20 year old 1.3L car with just exhaust and a carb.

and alot of times, i just tell people the carb is the stock form of FI lol....

built lude owners sure look puzzled when their expensive mods get put down by a car with "just a full exhaust"
