As of today, the upcoming batch still got couple FRP hoods available for grabs. So yes, if you want one, please let us know.

have you sorted out the fitment issues with the kit, as per MotoTeks post on page 9?

What are the weight differences on the carbon fibre compared to the FRP?

Also, shipping to the UK? is that possible?

Cheers.

Any word on the fitment tweeks?

Thx.

We're still tweaking minor things per my input to JKL. There's some really fine detailed stuff that needs changed, but nothing major. I still have yet to fit the front bumper, so I believe he's waiting on me to say everything is 'perfect.' I'm hoping in the next 2 weeks my FD will be ready for paint, and the last couple things that need fixed will be relayed to JKL.

However, I know they have some kits in stock now, that with minor body work will fit just fine. If your body shop can do some glass work to the rear over fenders, and the front fenders; everything is good to go. I'll let you know whats going on with the front bumper when I get to it.

The hoods are arriving next week since the shipment just left the facility today. So we will contact those who already put down deposits for the hoods as soon as we unwrap them for final inspections. Again, we apologize for the delay. Thank you!

Got the hoods on last Friday and we are currently arranging for test fitting. Once we get some installed pics, we will post them. Now, here are just some sample pics we took of a FRP unit.

gorgoeus, gotta start saving up to make the final payments....cant wait to see how test fits go

also i was wondering is there by any chance a deal you could arrange with the hood, like adding dampers or CNC brackets. Ive seen many GB on the forum but they have been never active and last time someone posted in them important was July 08, i know for a fact im going to need new dampers for the hood, was just thinking i could kill 2 birds with one stone.

Is JKL willing to take up a damper GB specialy for those who buy a hood??? would make sense...anybody else???

I talked to Kevin last week, and he said they are in the process of making the hood dampers.

making the hood dampers??? you mean JKL is making their own damper or are you talking about brackets that will connect to the hood... i dont follow

I was thinking of getting some NRG's but if JKL is making their own at a good price, il definitely get a set.

Will they be making CNC brackets as well?

They are making hood dampers similar to Rotary Extreme or NRG. Kevin said they should be done in a few weeks. I will be buying them depending on how this ad9 hood fits.

We apologize for the late reply and here are some pics for the plain CF. The quality of both FRP and CF hoods from this batch are satisfying and has met our standards.

However, some bad news from the initial test fitting. We test fitted both the FRP and CF versions on a LS1 FD with Hindson subframe. The results are the rear and sides of the hoods fit very well but there is a relatively large gap between the front bumper and front of the hood. Even though the actual gap might be a lot smaller than shown in the picture below since the hood was actually not closed all the way due to the center supporting backbone hitting the throttle body of the motor. In other words, the current backbone design makes this hood not compatible with LS swapped FD's. However, we will be modifying the backbone design slightly to hopefully make them work with the LS motors. We will test fit the hoods again on a rotary FD again in the following couple days to see how large of a gap we will be getting.

I know this is frustrating for those of you who have patiently waited for this hood to be done but it is also a huge headache for us to see the entire batch of hoods end up having some fitment issues. Since we always guarantee the quality and fitment of our products, we can never ship any products with known fitment or quality issues out to our customers. So if the final test fitting results still show an unreasonable gap between the hood and bumper, we will have to abandon all the hoods from the first batch and have the production facility fix the mold. We will post more updates as soon as they become available.

what about those who do not have an LS1 swap, if it fits with a 13B and dosent have the same gap as you mentionk, i dont think it would be necessary to postpone production of the hood for those cases which it might fit.

that is if i understood properly.

Seriously. Why do we have to wait longer for people doing custom swaps? Send me a hood. If it fits right, I'll keep it. If it doesn't, you're just going to trash it anyway, or I'll send it back.

lol, if they did that. Sounds more like a giveaway party than a GB

Stop being self-ish and impatient. If they did that than they would be out the $200/hood freight charge.

Maybe if I hadn't already paid for one and been waiting on it since September. After waiting this long, it is no longer being impatient. There is 0 reason anything should have taken this long, and JKL refused to give me a refund on my deposit. If I would have known getting a hood would have taken 6 months, I would have just ordered the real one. Thanks for joining in at the last minute though.

Again, we apologize for this delay to all of you who have been waiting for this hood to be done. To us, we cannot just send out a part which "looks good". For every product we sell, we have to make sure they "look good" and "work well" before we send them to our customers. We are sorry to keep you guys waiting and we hate to see fitment issues with our products as well but we must make things right before we can sell them even if it means that we will have to dump in more money to start over again.

As of today, we only got 4 orders for this hood so we will not break even on the investment we have put into making this hood happen. So if we will have to abandon this batch, we will have to get rid of them in "as-is"/defective condition locally or on ebay since we need to get as much money back as possible. We will probably have to invest in an new mold to make things right this time.

We will be fitting the hoods again on a rotary car as soon as the weather gets better here in SF. Anyways, we will make sure things work correctly before we hand them over to you.

For refund requests on GB orders, our policy is we do not issue any refund on any payments made towards any GB purchases once the production of the item(s) has already begun. The reason is once the production begins, we would have already paid for the mold and the production fees. For delays occurred during production, we will consider the inconvenience caused and will offer additional discounts if we could.

Sarusanj, again, we apologize for keeping you waiting for so long and we are aware that you have paid for the deposit early on but apparently there are two other buyers who have already paid in full and are also waiting for the hoods since the beginning. We are trying our best to solve this issue as soon as possible so please bear with us.

As far as the hood dampers and 2-hole CNC hood mounting brackets, yes, we will make them happen. We were actually planning on releasing them soon but then we ran into this fitment issue with the hoods. So we will make both projects happen as soon as possible.

Sorry about the delay! The weather has not been very friendly lately in SF but we will definitely do a test fit within this week.
