Don't speak so soon. Just got home to find my box wilted at the top and torn. Peaked inside the tear to see my lip smashed to pieces!!! Very dissapointed after this long *** wait. How thi sgets resolved and how quickly will depend on if I send in my balance for the GTC front bumper for my FD. PM me or email please Kevin with details on how to go about this. I have not opened the box yet if you want me to document the opening for insurance reasons. Let me know please. This was supposed to be a b-day gift for my GF back in the beginning of May, when they were originally going to be done. ooffaa!!

It was even torn and crushed on the side that has fragile written on it. What a bummer after all the delays.
Dave

got both of my FRP ones and yes DHL did play football with my box. The outside lip (one tucked into the other) got a small nick that can be fixed easy. I really don't like the idea of all the blame going to DHL but they are 75% responsible. The box was a poor design and had no real protection as we all can see. These boxes need to be a thicker cardboard with a good stiff double wall protection on the edges.

Glad I can fix mine easy when sanding this for paint and the other one to be put up for a later date.

I am glad to finally see this group buy came thru. Now to get better boxing and better carrier for future products.

We are really sorry to hear the countless complaints and claims on this shipment of lips. It also hurts us to see the product we worked so long for turned out broken at customers' door steps.

First thing we want to make clear is we did properly pack the lip and label the package as Fragile. It is our fault to choose DHL as our carrier. We just did not know that DHL has such low service quality.

For those customers who received damaged lips, please take detailed pics of the damages on the outer packaging and carefully open the box and take detailed pics of the damages on the actual item. We purchased full insurance for every single shipment so we will file a claim for every single damaged unit. So just send all the detailed pics with your name and forum username via email to sales@jklre.com. In the title of the email, put "FC S5 Lip Insurance Claim".

Hopefully, there will be no more victims. It took us over four hours to pack all the lips to make sure they can arrive safely and all those work turned out pointless.

Just to be clear I am not pointing fingers at JKL DHL had the responsibility to deliver them in the exact same condition JKL gave them to them. So 100% goes on DHL IMO. After all THEY are the ones who claim they can deliver a non-damaged package. Yes the box is a bit on the flimsy side, But I don't think any cardboard gauge would have stood up to the abuse they got Maybe a Flak-Jak.!

Here are a couple sample photos. I took a bunch Kevin. I'll send you a email with details later on.

Dave

good job!

The only thing holding it together is the bubble wrap.

Agreed.. the damage is completely DHL's fault, that kind of damage is way out of line, it means they pretty much folded the box!

anyway, here is a pic.. havent painted it yet, since im going to take it to a body shop soon anyway. S5 conversion complete!

^ Hey man. Looking sweet !

Damn, sux guys.
My box was all busted too but luckily the lip was in one piece.
Very happy with it. nice one JKL.
Those workers in the warehouse are underpayed, pushed, and are pissed. so they don't care about the packages. they'll kick it, stand on it and even purposely break your ****, especially the ones that are marked Fragile.

Thanks. I wish the best of luck to you also, as well as everyone else who recieved a damaged lip. JKL seems to be not only taking care of the issue but being very professional about it, so I don't think there will be any problems.

I don't get it though. DHL's only responsibility, the only reason they exist, is to get a package safely from A to B and they can't even do that properly. Oh well... good thing they got insurance.

EDIT: One thing I found funny (in a way) was the fact that all of these boxes are busted either on or near the huge writing that says "fragile." Coincidence?

Chris, yes, we understand that there are still several of you that have not gotten the shipments shipped out yet. But as you can see here, DHL is giving us a headache so we want to wait and see if it's necessary to change to another shipper. We do not want to get yours out today and find out it's damaged like some of these ones posted above. So please understand the precaution we are taking right now to ensure the safety of these packages. We can send yours out tmr via DHL if you really want us to but we suggest you wait for couple more days until we find a better shipping solution so that your package can arrive safely.

BTW, we have already called DHL and submitted a complaint to their head corporate office about their careless treatment of clearly labeled fragile items. Hopefully, someone up there would do something to improve their service quality.

The answer is probably no, but do you have any idea how long it will take to get the new lips out to those who had problems?

DHL says that they usually take 30 days to process the claims. And we will try our best to get a new batch in by then to have the replacement units ready for those who had the problems.

Is the box damaged? How bad is the crack? Since we don't need you to send back the lip in order to file a claim for you, all we need is pictures. If you are not satisfied with the condition, please let us know and we will try our best to help solve the problem. We want our customers to be satisfied with our products and service so please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any concerns.

all the cracks and chips are near the mounting holes which kinda sucks. also, if it was hybrid frp it shouldnt have cracked like that. shines stuff is flexy like urethane. your guys lip didnt have much flex at all in it. not trying to bad mouth, just speakin the truth

Our hybrid FRP is not as flexible as theirs because we purposely made it that way. We actually use different formula for different body part production. Depending on the application of the part, we give different amount of flexibility to it so we do not make it too flexible when not needed since too much flexibility will eventually result in permanent deformation if the part is bent and held in one position.

For the lip, we gave some strength to the material while making it also very flexible so that when where is some pressure applied to the lip when installed on a car, it will not break or deform severely. Since it is a lip, we also thought of the air resistance it will be experiencing while the vehicle is traveling in high speed. We are afraid that making it too soft will result in a flimsy structure which will vibrate severely whenever it experiences high air resistance.

We apply the same principle to all of our products. We do not just use the same production formula for every single product we make. We try our best to logically select the best solution. Sometime it can be hard to optimize the selection and find the best solution but we try our best to get as close as possible.
