Yet another V8 Python
Hi folks,
I'm Andrew, I'm from Ottawa, and I've finally acquired an RX7 with the Python modifications. I've wanted one for almost 15 years, essentially since they came out. I'm in IT (Virtualization Architect), but went to school for CNC Machining. I'm comfortable with computers and engines, electronics and 3D modeling.
The car is an 81 with a fresh Chevy 350 (I think factory heads, probably 9.5:1-ish compression, mild cam, aftermarket dual plane intake, probably stock rockers, headers), Muncie M21 4 speed, Camaro rear end with Auburn posi and 3.73's (not sure if it's a 7.5 or 8.5 ten bolt, have to get under it to check), new clutch (unsure what flavour), 10 point rollcage, TRD racing seats, 2" chopped roof, 265's up front and 295's out back.
I almost have to pour myself into and out of the thing it's so small. The interior is pretty basic, a funky custom dash and nice gauges, very race car-esq which is perfect.
Engine and transmission will be coming out. I love V8's, they're great and easy to work on, but it's not what I have envisioned for it. I have a Super T10 'W' box with an 'X' iron case for it (almost like a 70's Power Brute, rumored they can handle about 600ft/lbs), also a pair of 51T-32 turbochargers sitting on a shelf.
Idea is to put a V6 from a GTP (L67) with M90 supercharger in it, set it up for twincharging and EFI using the stock harness. Haven't worked out tuning, but I'm not worried, GTP's have huge aftermarket. Originally I wanted to do a Duratec 30, but it might be too much work to make work.
We're moving to another country in a few months so the car will be in storage until we get back. Hoping to really get to work on it when we do, I've been looking forward to owning one of these for way way too long.
