RXVERT Always in Progress
Hi Everybody,
I'm GEO, My interest in rotories started in the late 80's when the car I was driving broke down, and was shot ,,, I needed a car quick and I saw a old RX-4 for sale for $300.00 cash. I thought well I'll just drive it around till it could'nt drive anymore, and I'll get my $300.00 dollars worth out of it. Need I say any more, I've been hooked by the rotory bug ever since. Since then I've purchased 5 2nd gen rx-7s all convertibles over the years, Today, I still own 3 of those verts. The vert is perfect car for me here in San Diego Ca, (Sunhine and Beaches,) Even though I'm new to this forum I've been scanning thru from time to time to read up about modifications and Special Projects and It has motIvated me to take on a project , which was 2 years in the making, not so much as to attention to detail as much as I had to wait from paycheck to paycheck, buy parts ,labor etc. to complete my project, and now I realize that the project really never ends, most Rotory people know what I'm talking about. Here's some picts.

For some of you guys who think I'm some kind of rich Calif. snoob, I'm not, think about it, the average cost of an "Old" RX-7 vert goes from anywhere in the $1500.00 thru about $2000.00, and if its in mint condition thats when the price jerks way up. Now if you go out and buy any old used car out there thats somewhat reliable that you won't mind be seen driving around in, you'd probrably would start out about $6000.00 or higher. Therefore thats the price of 3 "OLD" Rx-7s. I hope I put it into perspective for some of you. Anywho I'm trying to get a thing going on for the forum to recognize that theres alot of rotory vert lovers here in the forum and that I'd like to see the day when with enough interest and partipation from the rest of you vert owners the forum will make a special section down there in the right hand corner thingie that would open up specifically for Verts.

Well I'm still a newbee and I still have some more post before I could talk to the big boys and even though I've finished my project just a little over a year ago, here are some pictures of the project as it was coming along then. I'm sorry, I have tons of pictures, but I'm limited, in how many picts I could post per posting. So I picked 5 picts, just to give a general idea of how my widebody vert project had came togehter. P.S. If Juiceh is monoriting this post, I cant wait to meet you, for you were my motivator and inspiration for my project.

Now heres some picts with the top up, its not as flattering, I just hope one day someone out there really creative could make a nice removable 1 piece hard top, and, or better yet, a really hot retractablle hard top like the new miatas have. that would be the ultimate 2nd gen vert, hands down. Picts of that too.

SNAPLE07 , I , d like to say that I have a hot, modified turbo under there, or a 20b. I wasn't tryin to decieve anybody with my turbo hood, but at, time, I bought it, they were the only CF hoods available, unless you purchased thru Japan, and, I did'n't have the money, unlike today, you could find them most vendors. I went to the former Speedmachine to get a new remu motor, plus street ported, then my game plan was to put in a 20b motor, when I could save the money for it. There are also other mods clutch and exhaust etc. Anywho,,, I finally hit my break in period for my motor, It was a little before 5;00A.M. and no one on the highway, just me and the crickets, no other cars. From a red light I accelerated so so but, by the time I was ready to shift into 4th gear, Out of the dark behind a barrier, on the opposite side of the highway some headlights turned on first , then the blue and red lights turned on, and I knew I was S.O.L. I was clocked by radar going 140 mph ( in 3rd gear,) I did'n't even get a chance to open her up. I ended up with a giant fine, my insurance went up and I lost my license for 1 month, next time it'll be 1 year. That experience blew my bubble for buying a motor with more horse power and torque. Besides I know I got the acceleration and speed, that is comfortable ( for me.) and I could use the money for a future project. So I'm fine with it. So If you want to speed , learn from what, happen to me, do it on the race tracks, its not for the everyday roads. or be prepared to pay the piper. The only reason I did'nt lose my license for a year , was, I wasn't racing anybody. I not saying that I don't speed anymore, but I'm not the leader of the pak or the wounded sheep in the back, I just go with the flow in the middle of the pak, ( knowing I got the power If I need it.)

P.S I like the RX-8 except they don't make a vert. I spent roughly $3000.00 for a paint job, $2000.00 for bodywork material and labor, and with the balance on the accessories, I could have bought an older 3rd gen RX-7, Except, I love the body stylin of the 2nd gens, They have So Much Potential, and look better, I think, when done right.

First of all let me say that I like the original lines of the RX-7 verts, and thats why I'll always keep one of mine verts stock, being that said,,, I mentioned earlier that I use to surf the internet to collect tips and picts. for ideas on how to do some type of modification, to my vert. So here are some picts that were verts that went far and beyond just bolting on a bodykit. Remember you don't have to like them , but just open your minds to ideas, the whole idea is to get some creative ideas flowing. If you have a picture of one, show everyone your picts.

NEXT DAY , Here are some more, beyond , just bolt on kits, One of them is actually a kit, The red vert (Miraiah kit) (n the top row ) more to come, like I mentioned before, you dont have to like them, there very unuasual thats for sure, and sometimes you need to think "out of the box" just open your minds and be creative. Maybe One day Mazda will notice us and our ideas, and make a newer version of the RX-7 Vert. I also have picts, I'll eventually post in the future, of my favorite verts, various ones that inspired me.
P.S. anytime any of you, who own a verts, want to post your picture(s) of your vert, even if its just stock, please do so, everyone is welcome.

I've been away from the forum for a long while and I apologize for that, but its time to move on now, but, after going to the last 3 Sevenstocks, I noticed more verts and more folks taking interest in the verts, and if you remebered , last years best 2nd gen winner , was a vert. Sooooooooo, I'm going try to revive this old post back for discussion for all those vert lovers out there. Send in your vert picts and comments, ideas, lets get the ball rollin to get a special vert , section on the " forum jump section " Once you go vert ,,,,,, you can't go back. (ha-ha)

wow, thats a lot of different verts there. you can see how the styles change.
my vert is bone stock as i just clamied it as my own, i was trying to sell it for a profit until i lowered the price so much it was wrong not to keep it. i like the rotary thing just trying to stay away from more projects. but i cant help it and i'm in the middle of putting the new top on it now.
anyways your vert just about take the cake. nice job
