Welcome to the forum.

Your comment about destroying everyone on the street sounds like you might die an early death or injure an innocent bystander doing something stupid with a ricer.

The FD is not a good car for a new driver...

Spend some time reading the FAQ threads to learn about the car. We don't like to have to rehash old info so start there in the FAQ or you'll get flamed.

Also, take this class:

Not to flame you but usually the people that claim they "know how to drive" either end up wrecking their car whilst doing stupid stuff or fail to anticipate other drivers and still get wrecked. Take a defensive driving course preferably one endorsed by NHTSA. You will learn something and be a better driver for it.

If you do not have your license yet, how do you know how to drive so well? I agree with the above poster that the FD would not be the best car as first one. Just like people that get these high powered crotch rockets for a first motorcycle and end up laying it down because no experience, I think that what might happen in your case.

I didn't mean to say that you don't know "how to drive". Any idiot can step on the gas or brake and turn the wheel. Performance driving is a different set of skills that you only learn from practice. Jumping into a high HP car, helps to have something like this class and other structured instruction under your belt. I know I would have wrecked less when I was your age if I had gone to one of those.

I predict an epic double face palm coming. It's not his fault, if his parents are buying him this car they're not real smart.

Good fun these arguments.

At the end of the day you can never know too much it's as simple as that, noone doubts that you know how to drive but ultimately there's nothing wrong with taking an extra course or improving your skills, it will allow you to be safer for yourself and those around you and more importantly allows you to truly enjoy your car and get the most out of it.
~shrugs~
My two cents.

Forgive me for being blunt but what everyone is trying to tell you is this:

We know you think you can drive, but the truth is you don't unless you're some kind of NASCAR prodigy or something.

Being a good driver requires years of experience, and you just don't have it. Getting a fast car can end your life or someone elses. I know there were several guys who didn't graduate from my high school because they thought they knew how to drive fast.

Investing in a driving course might mean you have a wait a little longer to get a car, but what is more valuable to you, your life or getting a car?

It is not a Fast and Furious adventure out there on the road. You will either wreck or the cops will take your car, and they're not known for their sense of humor.

Ive seen and heard about enough crashes and deaths to know to keep it on the track, and the rx7 isnt gonna be my first car anymore im gettin a 05 vw gti.

Buy whatever you want and drive the wheels off of it. I did and ended up fine. I have kids your age and understand your excitement. Hopefully some of these uptights haven't scared you out of being and auto enthusiast.

If u want to get an fd get it. However IMHO I'd say get a 240sx stock they're slow and you will get used to and learn how to drive RWD car and mAybe drive a manual if you do not know how to yet. They are cheap to get, cheap to fix and good starter cars. If for whatever reason you decide to keep it, it will make a good track car.

FD is my 5th car, if it was my first I know I'd end up crashing it.
