The next new guy.. LHD FD Edm, AB (PICS ARE UP)

Hey all, another noob to this forum here.., first post. Not new to forums or cars, but new to Mazda's and rotaries. Big fan of online forums as they are massive resources for knowledge (ie FSM's). This forum seems to be pretty active, 40 new intro threads in the first half of this month, been lurking for about six months as a guest but thought I'd get set up..

Coming from a GR STi Sedan that was heavily modified, won lots of awards at shows in and around Edmonton. Those fr Edm on here have probly seen it (pic below). Sold it and now have a new project. Had a few criteria that had to be met when I was searching for an FD:
1. Must be LHD, no JDM fanboi here
2. Must be black, no exceptions
3. NO RUST
4. As unmodified as possible, as I want to be the one to build it up from scratch, I didn't want to inherit someone else's problems/half-*** work.

Took me a few months..but this is what I landed:
Black 93 LHD RX7 Touring, stock right now, bit of a weird history. Interior is pretty mint, exterior...meh, its ok. Needs a hood, sunroof exterior (not sure if they can be found new or used..? Input from the crowd maybe?), the underneath is clean and has no rust. Plan on molesting it pretty hard over the next few years anyway so not too worried as it'll need paint and body work before its done. It came with the OEM 13B, but who knows how many km's on it, it has apparently been sitting for quite a while. On the fence as to which route to go with the engine..rotary vs LS. I know the guy I bought it off of is on here somewhere..

Pics of the STi that I had:

Lots more on my IG thread. I dabble in some carbon fibre works and will probly make an entire dash kit for this thing, door cards..and some other stuff, just so I can say I made it. I take great pride in that kinda stuff..

Pretty big shoes to fill with this project. Will start a build thread once I figure out wth I'm gonna do with this thing.
ig: @e13tankbuster

Welcome - I too had to search long and hard for a clean LHD here in Alberta. Glad to see you found what you were looking for.

Side note - keep the air suspension away from this one lol

Edm is short for Edmonton, it’s where the car is located. It’s a city in Alberta

Hi E13tankbuster, and welcome to the forum. I'm in Cold Lake, not that far from you, and also recently joined this forum after using it as a guest for a long time.

My other projects are all Chevy V8s, including a Dart SHP LS Next that truthfully I haven't got around to building yet, so I can appreciate your enthusiasm for an LS. However selfishly I hope you decide to stick with a rotary in your new FD. It's such a unique family of motors, and IMHO really adds to the already considerable character of your car. But I'm sure you'll love whatever you decide to do.

Good luck with your project and welcome again.

I've seen that STI a lot, back when I had my Evo X... such a beautiful car... Very clean, and always a favorite at shows.

I can't wait to see what you do with this car... I know it will be amazing.

Enjoy your rx-7

Thanks man, yeah the STi was pretty good. I plan on doing better with the FD. Plan on leaving nothing untouched on this thing. You're in Edm as well?

Yeah I'm in Edmonton. I look forward to seeing what you end up doing with this car.

Ps. If you decide to go with a different motor, I would buy your 13B/trans if it was for sale

Hey Chris, yes I'm on here. Welcome to the club.

She's got a couple dents and dings but for a 25yr old car, it's very clean IMO. You should see some of the beat up FD's out there! You'll be able to find a hood on kijiji most likely. I would try paintless dent removal on the few roof/sunroof dents, or just leave it until you do the body/paint down the road.

The motor/trans is original to the car and has ~63k miles just like the chassis. Was sitting for the last few years, but to my knowledge has never been cracked open. Would be a great rebuild candidate and I would think that most, if not all of the hard parts could be reconditioned and used again.
