Newly wedged into an exciting project

Howdy, new account and new to the forums overall! I purchased an RX-7 FC a year ago and finally had time to register and give it some gas. So far I'm loving the ride but needs tons or refreshing. I'm thinking of keeping it mostly stock with some updates and upgrades here and there. I look forward to the learning process; this site seems like a library for rotaries.

Sorry about that! To anyone who's curious, hopefully the pics can send of my car. Imported from Japan, found this gold nugget!

Oh that's an awesome car! Is it an original Shade Green Infini? The wheels are correct and it appears to have the correct steering wheel, but the seats are not and I see no badging on the rear. I do however see the knee pad on the driver's door. Does the car have the corresponding pad for the passenger and the metal foot bar? I'm almost 100% sure its a true Infini though, based soley on the bronze tinted glass.

Yes! Inner door still has the oem green. Sucks the badge was painted over, it leaves me to speculate, but aside from the seats and the painted over badge, the car does appear to be a true Infini model. We checked everything the infini model wouldve had and as far as I'm aware, this is it. From the paint to the 16" BBS wheels, momo racing steering wheel, Pirelli tires, copper tint, foot bar, strut bar, front lights, front lip... Am I missing anything? Either way, she's here to stay

Wow, that's a really cool find. What are you plans with the car? Are you going to restore anything? Period correct mods? Keep it entirely stock?

For now I want to drive it the way it was meant to be driven. Keep it stock, refresh/upgrade certain parts, then gradually bring up its performance for more spirited driving without sacrificing comfort and convinience. Oh, also repaint and refinish the wheels. To start, I've got a new set of bushings ready to replace these 30 year old ones. And while I'm at it, may as well replace the brakes and rotors for some larger diameter ones since my current brakes aren't biting as well as I'd hoped. I've seen a conversion kit for both front and rear. Any feedback on them would be appreciated. Beside that, just look to restore it like new/better

You don't see the shade green around at all. That is the color I would paint my s4 if I had the time/money. Is the over spray the original color? It looks to be, black in the dark, green in the light. I think the clear yellowed like most of these cars do. It kind of looks a little blue.

On a side note, I didn't realize that there is no stock green as far as I know for the FD, only Montego blue. I like the green, the blue does look good too, though.

Start a build thread!!!! Please.

Shucks, now I'm really getting fired up for this project! Unfortunately, like most other project cars, progress will be slow. When I have the time and feel like I've enough going for the car, I'll start a build thread - if I can figure it out In the meantime, for anyone curious about the car, feel free to ask for pics. I know I would've if I knew ANYONE who had access to such a car. Also to answer about overspray, the previous owners might've tried to paint over the original color in some way, I'm not entirely sure why. This would also explain no rear badge. I checked my car's color code and you are correct in that it is GU - Shade green!

Yup, i second above. Even if the build thread has slow updates, it's a really nice place to document for others to follow along.

I for one am in for more pictures!

Take your time.... just pick a title for the build thread that would catch the attention of the FC Infini crowd. Hopefully, some epic info will come out of the wood work, etc.

You might get more info and interaction on other social media though. I talked to a young twenty something Y.O. not long ago that asked, "What is a forum?"

I think a build thread would be great to see! It doesn't have to be a fadt build. Take your time and enjoy it and post in the thread when you are able. People will love it!

I'll get around to starting the build thread this weekend with pics of the features this car comes with as well as its flaws. Anyone is welcome to ask for specific pictures of the car if they're curious about it
