Newb from Cincinnati Area

Hi, I like spicy chicken sandwiches from Wendys....

I've owned a few different cars this year alone, plus a good handful of others. (none have ever been totaled or blown up!) But my latest and hopefully last purchase is my 86 rx7.

I bought it for $1000. It has a near perfect interior, power mirror/roof option with manual locks/windows (awesome!). A rebuilt 13B with newish transmission, and new drive shaft that meets with the 4.1 LSD rear end. It has about 130K miles on it, and only a couple of rust spots. (one on each fender front and back, and a spot under the rub strip on the driver side door) But at least the pans and strut towers are rust free.

It is pretty much bone stock. But it does sound as if it has an aftermarket exhaust on it.... But that's because the stock one, rusted off at the flange after the cat. (need to fix that but kinda broke for about another month)

Has a few factory upgrades like the Mazda High padded arm rest, the Clarion EQ (gotta get the most outta that tape deck!), and as mentioned before, the power roof/mirrors. I added the S5 steering wheel about a week after owning it, and did the sleepy eyes. (I like them... I don't care if anyone else doesn't).

As far as the future goes:

Hopefully it includes a set of coilovers, some 16X8 steelies or XXR 522, sticky rubber, 20mm overfender kit, aluminum hood, kouki s5 tails, caged, and a single exit exhaust. I'd like to go with a Origins aero kit, and the GT wing if needed.

Basically, I love backroad driving. I love autocross, and I love Time Attack. So the car will go that direction, with a little styling love to make it friendly on the eyes.

I also do photography when I am not working the 8-5 crappy warehouse job...

And here are a few shots of the car:

All of what I've taken as of now:

And yes, I have the Original Window Sticker from 1985... (picture of it in the album)

So Hi everybody....

Well that was certainly a nice intro for the car but how about you? What's the name and what exactly made you go rotary? Or was this car a find that was too good to pass up and that's how you fell into our camp?

S/N is my name...

Car was too good of a deal to pass up considering it had an great history, a rebuilt rotary, and solid body. For $1K would you let it slip past you?

I guess I've always liked FC's since I was introduced to them in high school... (around 2000-2001 year) So I finally got the chance to grab one, so I did.

Looks good. Quite a deal you got. Red Line Time Attack is pretty fun, and they have an Enthusiast class now. Just add some good brakes and tires (140 treadwear or higher), and you'll be ready to go!

Yeah, I am don't think I will run it until I get this weak suspension off and swapped over to something with more stiffyness. (yes, I made that word up) When I went backroading with a friend in his FC (think it has Tokico and Tanabe combo) he left me due to my car floating around. I didn't want to push it on roads I didn't really know to well, and with a car that was sloppy.

Haha. Thanks. It's got some rust, but for the most part, it's a rock solid car for a 1986. This is why I am always looking around for good deals. Even when I don't have money!

Yeah my car has some cheap *** suspension and bald crappy tires and the *** end just floats side topside on the highway especially in rain. What are you thinking for coilss wise?

Coil wise, I'd like to get around 8-10kg on the front, and 6-8kg on the rear. I may buy a used set, and swap the springs over to Swift springs so I can get the exact rates I want.

Brand wise: Stance or D2's would be preferred, (I was running D2's on my 05 xB and loved the hell out of them 6kg/4kg <~~crappy rear beam suspension). But I will look around for a good deal here and there. I am open to lots of brands as long as they aren't generic crap you find on eBay.
