MS New to world of wankel

Hello everyone! My name is Quinton, although most commonly referred to as Q10. I Im enlisted in the Air Force, stationed in southern Mississippi for tech school and will be heading to south Georgia for the next few years. I've always been an avid fan of the sound of rotary engines and the FC styling, but never had the knowledge I needed to own one. Well to celebrate my 21st birthday this september, I was planning on buying one. I figured I should probably stop waiting and grab one before they start getting harder to find. I have no experience with rotary engines and Im no certified mechanic, but I know my way around a vehicle. I built a n/a b20vtec and a turbo b18a civic, so Im just transitioning to bigger and better things

Im new to this forum in terms of membership but I have done quite a bit of reading on it. A friend of mine directed me here when I told him I was considering buying an RX7. He owned an S5 and pointed me in the right direction to learn some things before I had a chance to waste money on a lemon. I plan on having a T2 and A LSx FB at some point in my lifetime. But anyways, Im here now, and avidly searching for T2 (preferably a S5) in my price range. Im open to all ideas and advice. Thanks for reading!

Well, "Quin-ten", thanks for the detailed intro and goals info...it's nice to see someone doing all the background research first before picking up one of these cars. It should save you a TON of grief later on.

Thanks for taking the time to register and welcome aboard to RX-7 Club!

I made the mistake of rushing into a purchase before, and it'll never happen again. It was quite the unnecessary series of unfortunate events.
I see a lot of hatred towards the 13b and I still dont understand why. From perceived reliability issues to the ol' "it'll never make as much power/torque as my small block" argument, its just baffling.
I had the opportunity to go see some Izod & Grand Am Racing a few weeks ago in Alabama, and a RX-8 took home 1st. There are just few sights and sounds that are as awe inspiring as a rotary engine screaming down a track, then shooting 3 foot flames on a downshift before entering a corner.
