VA New user from VA

Hey Guys My name is Louis.(aka Bobby).
I recently picked up an 87 rx7 Fc, I've always wanted one, but never had the right deal come around. Before this I owned 2 240sx and an sc400. My current daily is a stage 2 MKV GTI.

Just like almost every other person, I plan to drift it on occasion, but I've already started sourcing my parts list for a v8 swap, hope to complete it pretty soon.

Thanks for looking.

Why the v8 swap?

Rotaries are so much more rare, unique, and exquisite, v8s are a dime a dozen.

V8 because they are a bit more reliable, not sayin that rotary isn't reliable but I've never owned rotary before. No idea how to trouble shoot or repair a rotary. Plus its a lot easier to get a sbc to hit 450 rwhp and not break.

You're right when it comes to unique though.

I'm still thinking about what I actually want to throw in there, the 13b in there has blown apex seals, so I have a while to think about it, while I pull it out.

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

If you ever decide to keep it rotary this is probably the best learning tool other than manuals and personal experience working on them.

How many miles is on the car? Nas can go 86-88 na's can go150-175k miles if maintained well. Though I've seen them blown at much less when poorly maintained.

It has 155k on it, an the seals are blown, but the previous owner beat the **** out of it.

Still have more research and comparisons to do before I settle on power plant.

If you're set on pistons I like the inline 4 or 6 dropped in rather than a v8.

Sr20det, 4g63, 2jz, rb20, rb26 etc.

I'm just not a v8 guy, not really my thing. I don't think you should need a huge engine to get results, and the rotary engine us a testament to that, which is why I love them.

80cubic inches , a 5.7 v8 is 350

Unfortunately I don't live in NoVA, I'm in the Hampton roads area. But I'll check it out.
