New rx7 owners in Japan

Hello everybody! My name is Steven.I am from Okinawa,Japan.
I just bought a 1989 Savannah RX7 for me and the wife. This is the first rotary car either of us have ever owned, and we have been in love since the first turn of the key.

What kind of rare items Mats R? Sadly these cars aren't as common as you would think they were, at least in this part of Japan.
So far I'm having enough trouble getting ordinary parts ie seals for the soft top but if I find a good source I'll let you know.

I dont really know I have a Toyota Supra and there were/are some rare parts for it only available in Japan. Do you speak and read japanese? I remember finding cool rare stuff on yahoo.co.jp but wasnt able to buy anything mostly because I dont understand Japanese.

Lol Supras and Skylines are like Honda Civics in the States. I don't have either one but know a few people I could ask. Parts for all the JZ motors can be had here significantly cheaper then in the US but haven't been looking so haven't found anything yet. :/
As for Japanese I'm from the US. My job sent me out here in May so I've only learned to speak enough to get by and haven't learned to read it yet.

For your viewing pleasure! Had snow tires on it when we bought it so my guess is it has spent its 23 years with the original owner and spent its majority in a garage. It's just so clean for all original. Only had 70,000 kilometers on it which is around 43,000 miles. Interior is original, carpet has some stains & driver's seat has a little faded spot in the leather.

Thank you and actually she's probably the reason I got it. She absolutely insisted on having a convertible. We looked around and couldn't find any convertibles that were automatic except the RX7 I originally walked away because the top was brown (yuck!) and it would run rough. Came back a week later and they had done an oil change new plugs & new injectors. They also threw 4 new tires on the car and needless to say it was an impossible deal to walk away from. She got her convertible, I got my car that will be old enough to export when I return to America
Plus I have to say watching her wash it in her bikini every weekend is a reward in its own haha

Thank you! I will most certainly enjoy her. People always ask so what are you going to do with her? Well truthfully I'm going to put factory wheels on it and just touch up any little imperfections in the interior and exterior. Once it's back in the USA after I leave here in 2.5 years (I can bring one car back for free, company I work for will pay for it just has to be 25 years old or older and I have to pay to get doors replaced with the reinforced ones they have in the states bring it up to US emission standards and have new gauges in mph installed [keeping old gauge cluster] and replace all the windows with the grade of glass they use in USA) after that it'll sit in my garage under a cover being brought out only for weekend cruising or to take to shows (for shows Ill reinstall factory gauges for authenticity and otherwise have no desire to ever part with the car. Wife is firm on wanting to keep it till we're ripe and old lol

Shipping parts would depend on who you bought them from some places ship internationally. However most probably don't/won't/can't understand English so that might be hard. But if you find some parts in the Okinawa area in Japan I might be willing to pick them up and ship them to you. Just have to figure out how you'd get me the money ha. I haven't been looking for parts places but if you give me an idea of what you're looking for I'll keep an eye out.. Just might be a month or 2.
As for shipping an entire car it's unbelievably tricky and full of loopholes. Easiest way to avoid the bs is to get a car that's 25 years or older to ship... Shipping will take approximately 2-4 months. As for the price tag I'm not sure... I'd imagine enough to deter most people from doing it. Once it's in the US if they find any dirt on it they'll hold it for like two weeks extra per spec of dust. Also depending on the cat modifications to bring it to specs to be street legal is going to cost you anywhere between 2,000-20,000 depending on car (RX7s arent bad...Skylines are like 20,000) any engine modifications on the car are only going to add to the headache of trying to make it street legal...

Sorry my phone decided to post that before I was done. It is not impossible to get a car over here but it is going to be expensive and it's going to be a headache. That's all I know you can probably find an importer online and ask more about it. IF however you do figure out what/how to do if and have the money for it there's a place nearby that will go to the auctions in mainland Japan and you name make model year and price tag you want on the car... You can even give them specifics such as mileage and color and they'll find it for you.
