New to ROTARY! May of bit off more than i can chew lol

Whats up Rx7club.com, i've been on this site for about 3 weeks now and finally i decided to make a SN. My name is Joseph and i just purchased my very own, first Rotary Mazda Rx7. It is a 87 body with 91' S5 motor. Previous owner said the motor has around 77k miles on that...but really who knows? the body has 144k and it runs great. Since i've had the car, i've replaced

1. Battery
2. Injector O rings ( had a leak the first night, gas was everywhere, then i realized i may of bit more than i can chew! ** dum dum chee** title ) haha
3. My Oil cooler has a leak, i managed to figure out its a big nut bold on the bottom of the cooler. Not sure if the correct term is a OIL COOLER BYPASS VALVE or OIL COOLER THERMOSTAT. Either way, i'll getRdun.

ANYWAYS, i know these cars will have issues, any car at that with the age and mileage, but i'm still hyped up as when i first bought it. This site has a plethora of information and i plan to pick all i can.

Located in MISSOURI out in the ozarks ( nice mountain drive, roads and curves ) hit me up if you're in the Missouri/midwest area! Thanks again!

Do an oil change. While its empty replace and tighten the copper washers on the oil cooler.

Congrats on the new car! It's easy to see why we all fall in love with these things. So high maintenance but so worth the drive!

give her a good tune-up to, its easy insurance, and you NEVER know how it was taken care of before unless you've known the car for years

I think it's great to do your own maintenance!

Definitely do a tune up on her its always worth it!! New plugs and wires and also checking the condition of the coolant isn't bad either and if its dirty change it and flush out the system of slime and refill and bleed the system and good another thing off the check list

Also changing the fuel filter is a good idea as well as a clogged one could cause some power loss.

The posting limitations are a bit ridiculous, but big forums like this always have problems like that.

As for your car goes, It might feel like a bit much at times, and you will want to smash it/sell it/burn it in a fire, but just see it through, and I assure you, you will never be more connected to a car.

I'm speaking from experience, I rescued my RX7 from the scrapper. The guy basically told me "$300, or I'm calling the junkers", I couldn't say no. My father and I ended up building the carb from parts, the vacuum system from parts, and the ignition from parts.

I didn't think I would love this car this much, but I do, and I don't think I'll ever sell it.

After you get 10 posts in the forum you will be able to start posting in alot of things.

I know how you feel. Everyone goes through trouble with an Rx7. Whether its engine problems or any problem of the sort we all go through. But like i say a Rx7 is a like a drug that you will never be able to quit and is very addictive. I used to build a lot of Toyotas and my favorite that I built from the ground up was 1988 Toyota MR2 Supercharged but once i got into rotaries it was game over for me with Toyotas lol. Own a 12A bridgeport 85 rx7 now and used to have a stock port 12A when i bought until 6 months later i built an engine for it that would put a bigger grin on my face though prepping to go 13B turbo ii s4 engine and along with some other goodies

I would never sell any rx7 that i own. Im a rotor head for life. Im puerto rican so it figures lol

Hey dnt 2.5 what year is your rx7?
