New from Ottawa
Hello,
my name is Luc and I recently acquired a 1984 rx7 GS. I am a mopar guy yet I dd a ford focus.
The rx-7 has a few mods that came with it and was previously used for autocross for 5 years.
It hasn't been run in a year and will therefore need a bit of TLC but I can't wait to get it on the road again. I'm hoping it won't take much to get it started. I've read several threads here on the subject, barring a few clarifications I'm just about ready to start working on it!

Luc, thanks for taking the time to register and welcome aboard to RX-7 Club!
If you're a Mopar guy, what's in the stable currently, if you don't mind me asking? Most memorable Mopar owned to date?
And of course, what the heck made you go rotary?
Hey, the more 1stgen folk who join the better, I always say. I've got an '84 GS myself.

Hey guys!
I used to drive a 2001 Dodge Durango with a 5.9L and AWD. By far my favourite truck!
I grew up with my parents driving a Dodge Daytona and a Dodge Grand Caravan. Afterwards, we had a 2000 Dodge Durango, bronze, 4x4 with the 4.7L. At the same time, we ended up with the 2001 I mentioned above.
A few years go by, I become of legal age to get my license, I start commuting to university so my parents handed me the keys to Durango (the 2000 was long gone at this point) to drive to the bus station and back. Eventually when I moved back to school they took the truck back, so I went out and bought a 1989 Jeep YJ as a restoration project. It was a mistake so I scrapped it.
Then.... I bought a Ford Focus. Saw it, loved it, put an offer on it, got turned down. Finally got it, 4 months later the engine blew (113k on it). Shouldn'tve bought it!!
I only went rotary because I had the opportunity to do it. I'm part of a motorsports club and a member offered the RX7 to a good home. Only condition was that it doesn't end up in a scrap yard! I got a very, very good price on it - 0$.
I'll come back with more, but for now I need to jet!

Thanks again!
I actually was laid off very recently from the golf course I worked at so this project is going on hold until later when I am working again.
bummer

Bump!!
Hello all, I'm back!
With all the snow that's finally melted and the warm weather we're having I can finally get started on bringing the RX-7 out of storage!
The previous owner put fuel stabilizer in the fuel tank, I'd guess 18 months ago. Should I worry about draining the fuel tank or can I trust that the fuel in it is good enough to get the car running? It was recommended to me by the previous owner that I may need to either change the fuel filter or the fuel pump. He didn't explain why and I didn't ask, being too excited by just how good the car looked when I got to it! (I drove out 2 hours with a trailer to it, sight unseen)
Naturally from the engine having sat for so many months, everything has dried out. I've seen mention of putting some marvel mystery oil in the "leading" spark plug holes (I'm assuming the top ones?) From my understanding, the spark plugs look somewhat like... :: < the two top dots being the leading spark plugs?
I've also seen mention of 2 stroke oil... having worked on a golf course for a few years I know of mixing 50:1 an all that as that's how the engines get lubricated, and since a rotary also consumes oil for lubrication... am I safe to use standard 2 stroke oil, pour about a half ounce into each top spark plug hole, hand crank the engine over a few times... then for the following 2-3 days do the same? (as in, pour a bit more oil, hand crank again then let sit until the next day)
The car ran until the day it was parked, having only been parked for winter storage.
I'm also very nervous about working on cars, doing almost nothing to them unless I have step by step, detailed instructions. I'm terrified of doing something wrong after the nightmare that my focus has and continues to be. With my focus, one mistake and it causes a catastrophic chain of failures. The thing is a lemon and, despite everything I've read about rotaries being expensive to maintain I'm sure my focus holds the crown. So, despite using search and reading up on guides... I need to ask questions to put my uncertainty aside. I hope no one minds taking their time to help me, rather than direct me to the search function.
Aaaaaanyway, am I on the right track? Oh and for hand cranking... where do I crank from... Note: the engine is NOT seized
