CA Jacob from CA - New member and new to car work!

Hey all. Been lurking here since I got another FC earlier this year and thought it was time to sign up.

I've had two FCs. The first was a SUPER clean 1986 that I picked up for a great price, but unfortunately it died on me about a year later. At the time, I didn't have the money or resources to worry about repairing it. I was dumb and resold it (luckily for a good price to someone wanting to swap in a V8).

Now, my girlfriend surprised me by buying a 1986 that still runs, but needs work. I'm using this as an opportunity to learn more about cars and, at the same time, fix up my RX7!

As a job, I work in IT. From what I've seen in the IT field, a lot of what you need to learn you can find yourself online. I'm hoping to take the same approach with cars and hope to learn my way around a motor.

Thanks and wish me luck.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I currently reside in SoCal near L.A.. Hoping to find some meet-ups around here to check out other's projects.

Edit 2: Added name and location in title.

Glad to hear you're going to take the opportunity to fix your FC up. I've always lurked here as well haha but the funny thing is I've owned about 4 FD's. Didn't bother to sign up till now. Your gf must love you a lot, I'd literally spoil the %^&% out of my girlfriend if she bought me an RX7 haha.
