GA New member - Joe - Atlanta, GA

Hi Everyone, my name is Joe and I live in the Atlanta, GA area but I'm originally from CT. An FD RX7 has been my #1 dream car for as long as I can remember and I am finally lucky enough to own one! I just recently picked up this 93 Black RX7 Base model:

It's kind of a basket case, so I'm sure I will be asking questions after I read through the basics here. I've built a few cars in the past, most recently a 93 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, but I've never worked with a rotary before. I'm looking forward to the challenge and learning all the unique differences between the two!

Beautiful car! I love the 3000GTs you have as background too!

When I was younger, my desktop on my PC was always set to a glamour shot of an FD very very similar to yours... that design is easy on the eyes.

Hey thanks! An FD has always been my dream car and I honestly thought I'd never have one. But, as luck would have it, I was in the right place in time in my life and caught a decent deal on this one. It's been in NC, SC, & GA its entire life so there is no rust at all, 0 accidents, clean titles, etc. so I'm stoked!

Unfortunately, it does have a seized engine and an auto transmission. So I've got my work cut out for me on that end. I plan to rebuild the motor (I'll need to get it out and disassembled to see what is reusable and what is trashed) and drive it for a while as an auto. I expect at least one rotor housing and rotor are done for. I'll slowly collect all the parts needed to properly swap it to a 5 speed at some point after I fix the engine.

The good thing is that it is definitely not my daily driver and it can sit nicely in my garage while I slowly restore her! I'm actually looking forward to the whole process and I will be sure to start a thread to keep up to date with it all.

very nice and welcome. Have fun modding the car. Take it slow and research before you buy and add a bunch of stuff.

Thanks! I definitely plan to take my time with this. If it takes a year to get it back on the road properly, so be it. Although hopefully it doesn't haha! I don't really plan to go nuts with mods either. I could see a full exhaust, perhaps an intake, and then upping boost to the safest level which seems to be 12 psi from what I've read so far without fuel mods. Anyway, the biggest thing is to get it fixed first and enjoy it. Mods can come slow down the road.
