Rubber plug towards the front of the tranny (clutch region)? That is an inspection plug and should have any oil behind it. If it is leaking oil, you may have a leak from the rear oil seal of the engine or the front oil seal on the tranny.

Right. *shouldn't*

You might try removing the plug and see if you can see the source of the leak with a flashlight. Either fix would require dropping the tranny. If it is the engine side, you would have to deal with the clutch/flywheel too.

Normally, it might be easier to watch the level and keep an eye on oil levels. However, the oil in that area can get on the clutch disc and cause it to slip (in which case you would need to pull the tranny to fix the clutch at that point anyway).

The cost to fix either leak is minor (couple bucks for the seals). It might be worth changing the cluch, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing while you were in there. If you did the labor, the cost is pretty low, but you might do it when you have a couple days where you don't need the car (in case you run into anything). The whole thing might take a couple hours, but usually something always pops up during repairs to make things way more difficult than what they should be.
