New Member with 84 and 85 GSL's

Hello!

First post although I've been lurking on these forums for about a month. Back in November I picked up a pair of 1st Gen RX-7's (an 84 and 85 GSL) that had been sitting in storage for a number of years. One was a runner and one was a parts car that had an engine of unknown history. After a few weekends of tinkering, I've manged to get the 12a's in both cars started and running.

Anyway, I've got a lot of work ahead of me. I've got carbs, brakes, and leaking oil coolers to repair. I'll continue to use the search button and place parts orders until I can get at least one of these things back on the road. Haha!

The silver one is the '84 that I plan on getting back on the road. The red one is an '85 but I'm afraid it's a little too far gone with rust to be restored. I may make it into a Lemons or Chump car if I can get it running reliably enough.

Both have some rust/scale underneath. The silver one is pretty solid. but the red one is pretty soft in the rockers and floor. Also some rot in the fenders. The wheels are nice. They have some surface rust and corrosion, but I think I can polish them out.

My first car in high school was a GSL-SE that a friend of our family gave me because it was wrecked. I found some body parts in a scrap yard and got it back on the road, then my dad "encouraged" me to sell it because the insurance was pretty high. I've always regretted getting rid of that car (that was over 20 years ago) so when I had the chance to buy these, I jumped on it.
