Howdy, new member. New GSL-SE"s", Planning on crazy build"s"

Howdy, names Dean.... Used to be on Mike B's site years ago, and this one I believe, but cant remember my username. Ive been working/driving/racing First gen rx-7's for over 8 years... Im 24 Like Ill mention later in this, probobly long letter, I had a 83 GSL and a 84 GSL-SE bought with a fresh, NEW new engine, put about 6k in racing/body/paint mods. Over the years I have read/done so many things with the Rx-7, that after my 2 year brake, have had an itching to do an all out project. (I graduate from college after 3 more classes, work full time construction, SINGLE.. So Im gonna have some free time to pour my money into these (hopefully) 2 new Rx-7's. Ones already is mine, the other, Im waiting on 2 friends that I told about the car to decide if they want it... I told them before I had my "master" plan.

The one I got Sunday is a 85 Mazda Rx-7 GSL-SE!!!
It has VERY minor rust.. (surface smal area, 3 tiny real rust spots).. wheel wells look brand new. The paint is oxidized.. but im a "painter" so yippie...The previous owner has spent around 7k in maintentce (keeping it "like" new NO mods at al, besides 2 air horns .. I even have about 75 pages of reciepts/work orders from the 1 shop the guy used. God knows how much he paid at other places.. I got all giddy reading them and estimating the price he only put 17k miles on it since 2000 and thats when he got it I believe. Only driving problems ... tranny noise/ bad syncros (no prob, can change it in an hour and always can find parts) ,cold start (who cares), and I can tell it will need a new starter w/ in 2 months. Other than that, the car feels like it just came off the lot. While driving my 84se whitch had new eibach springs/tokiko illumina on her and while new, did not feel like a healthy car BUMPY..

My plans sandblast... undercoat, paint (everything professionally to look new.. besides the engine bay... FOR NOW) racing beat full exaust (so 6 ports are happy they work perfect), body kit (had one b4 love them), New carpet, K&N cone filter and Rims... THATS IT... I plan on keeping this as my "daily" driver car.. Interior will stay stock (its nice, leather) I was going to keep the stock stereo/equilizer... but my buddy pointed out that a touch screen would go in perfectly, the area is rather large. BTW I think ive decided on black for the paint, not sure what tone yet... would like chameleon paint that went from just black to yellow.. gonna have to look. I had a yellow rx-7 just like the color, had a black body kit on it(couldn't match the ugly custom paint I got). was gonna repaint it but never did. Also had a blue one with 2 8" yellow "mustang' stripes down the middle.

The other car Is also A 85 GSL-SE... It has a "blown" motor, I think different..you never know... Gonna try to get it started, to see how she runs. Then rebuild that engine for the car I just bought. (If i do that, it will be 2-3 years from now, im not superman)

Its body is absolutly flawless and so is the ungly maroon leather interior. For this car I am putting the same body kit and rims on as the one mentioned above, and I am also going to paint it the same color why? First I think/know it looks good as heck like that.. Second, it WONT be a daily driver!
During my 2 years w/ out an Rx-7 I have become very familure with working on turbo's on cars.... So Im going to be gathering all the supplies I need this summer/winter for the Turbo II engine swap (1.3 from 2nd gen, turbo engine).. and I will deffinetly be rebuilding the engine with alot of goodies, and moslty new parts... Not sure on the turbo Im going to use, but everything else is pretty much decided on. Goal on the car, 12-13 second quarter mile when Im done with her, and I guessing about 7-12k in parts to get the second car finished. 14 months till completion.. HOPEFULLY

If youve managed to get this far, anyone having/knowing of a turbo II engine/tranny/driveshaft... or any of the other 50 things Im going to need for the conversion, hit me up.(Its been awhile, since Ive read through the conversion, need to look it up and shake the rust off). Also if anyone has any of the parts from my yellow rx-7(gsl-se from omaha, ne) eibachs, tokiko's, RB header (stainless one), Rims,MSD 6a, and ESPECIALY the .444 pumpkin (rearend) and has no use for them.. I would love to buy them back, And Id even think about the webber also.

LOL, Quality ones, I will never have enough of.., If you just want parts cars, I know of a farmer (4 years ago at least) that had like 13 of them all in a big hemp field. At the time he was looking to sell the cars whole, We needed some SE parts and between the 2 of us, had 8 Rx-7s at the time, so that wasn't plausable.. If there still there, there gonna be crappy, let me know.

Sounds like you found a couple of great projects to keep yourself busy. Keeping an SE running can be a feat sometimes, but if you owned one before, you already know that.

Curious about your yellow car, since you don't see many of those around. Good luck,

I just put some pics up on the show your fb thread.. Have to scan some pics of the car when it was complete... Didn't have a digi back then.

I may of changed my mind on the second car turbo II... Might just have to put in a chevy v8 heavily modified... Is grandmasracing still the place to get the conversion motor mounts/random things needed.. might be grannysspeedshop.. ill have to look it up in a bit... The turbo would of been nice, but I figure when I get my 3rd gen (getting loan SOON) that will be all the turbo rotary that I want to deal with.. and getting the hp that I wanted out of the car would of taken to much of my time. (got too many projects, still have a xjs 76 jag with a rebuilt engine that needs to be put in).
