New Member, 1st Rx7, 12at Bridgeport, gen 1, series 2

Hi everyone!
I'm new to Rx7 life but I've had a couple of rotaries.

I'm about to receive a gold gen 1 rx7. I need some help with wheel sizing and paint codes.

I'm looking at 15" x7 4x110 bbs rs rims but not sure on offset

Also I'd like to know the gold & brown 2 tone paint colours. Mine is factory gold, but that brown looks awesome! I think it's imperial gold and savanah brown?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum! Wohld like to see pictures of the car. The FC never came painted in a two tone paint scheme. The vin tag on the firewall will have the paint code of the original color. Likely Satin Gold Metallic. A somewhat rare and desirable color.

Yeah it's not original having 2 tone. And I'm still deciding tbh. But if it's just adding a little bit of brown that could easily be painted over later, I don't see a major issue. It's already had a turbo and Bridgeport added, So it's not 100% OG. I'm going to do the suspension and wheels too. But I'll keep all the original parts for future options.

I was definitely fooled by your title and description lol. I was thinking you had a 2nd generation RX-7. We typically refer to the 1st gen cars as such:

SA: 1979-1980
FB: 1981-1985
S1: 79-80
S2: 81-83
S3: 84-85

Also, no factory two tone for any 1st Gen RX-7 either. The color code is still in the same spot on the vin tag on the firewall. Post your color code and we can identify the original color.

Yeah my bad. I can't change it now. It's a 82 series 2.
There were silver/grey and gold/brown limited 1st gen Rx7s. The 85 gold SE-LIMITED were rare if I've got my facts right. Could be mislead. I'm looking for those gold/brown codes, not my own.

All of the two tone cars were not U.S. production cars. The cars you describe were sold overseas and finding someone here with one may be difficult. I honestly don't know how Mazda listed the color code on the vin plate. Could have likely been two color codes stamped on it instead of just one.

For the U.S. we saw a few special trim levels. In 1979, we got the Limited, produced in Beat Black. In 1980, we got the Leather Sport which was produced in Solar Gold, Brilliant Black, and Aurora White. In 83we got the Limited Edition which was produced in Chateau Silver Metallic. In 85, no special edition models were released in the U.S. the GSL-SE was introduced in 1984 and 85 was a carryover year for the car with only differences in the colors. Would have been cool to get the two tone colors of the special edition models such as the one above. I believe that trim level was similar to the "Special Edition" released in South Africa.

Ah ok.

Is this a USA only site? I'm in Australia and probably importing back to NZD.

Mike is correct, everyone from all over the world is welcome! I see your location as WA. Me being in the U.S., I naturally assume your location is Washington state and thus was providing you information on U.S. spec cars. In Australia, there were different trim levels, colors, options etc.

If it's a Non-US car, I currently have the parts catalogs going back to September 1983 and a few leads for catalogs back to 1978. Also, I'm not sure if you meant it like this, but the 12A Turbo was a higher-end option in Japan that appeared in the HB Cosmo in mid-1982 and then the RX7 in early 1983. Anyway, two-tone color codes were also used on the Eunos Cosmo. They are defined in Section PPPP of the parts catalog, in a handy chart that spells out the Color Code and what Paint Codes are associated with it. From that, you can source paint and other finishing supplies from any number of places such as Paintscratch.com
