Hello everyone!

My name is Robert and I currently reside in the Dayton, OH area. I own gold '82 GS that I brought out from my old home in CA. It's been sitting the garage for 6 years now and it's time to get her running again.

For the last roughly 4 years I have been autoxing a Dodge Neon locally but the abuse and the road salt have taken their toll and it's time to retire the Neon. Since the Rx7 has crappy paint and interior I have decided to build it into a locally competitive CSP car.

My current plans are to rebuild the engine (just pulled it last week), install a new exhaust, modified carb, lightened flywheel, Re-Speed suspension, and LSD. I'm debating swapping the entire rear-end or just the pumkpin but I will do whatever is cheaper. It's Autox so rear drums is no biggie.

Been lurking for a while on this forum and I'm glad to be a new member!

Sounds like it will be a nice setup. We have several 1st gen autocross guys on here that could give you some tips.

Thanks everyone! I'm really glad to be working on the 7 however my project just hit a big snag. I got around to tearing down the engine today and everything looks good except, of course, the rotor housings.

The front has a small chrome flake missing but the rear has two places missing chrome up to around 1/2" wide. Damn. The budget doesn't have room for pricey rotor housings so I may have to reconsider the direction I am going with the car. I'm going to spend the next days cleaning and measuring all the engine parts to see what is useable and what is not.

I really want to keep this project going and I haven't given up yet! I love driving that car and really want to make it my dedicated autoxer. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I just signed on to the forum tonight (my intro hasn't been approved yet) and I am also from Ohio. I may end up in your area... I just interviewed for a job in Middletown, last week. Maybe I'll see you at some events in the area (I'm not too familiar with the area, yet.
