New guy with an LS1
Hey, my name's Ryan. I've been a member here for a while but I have always just lurked until now...
I have an 89 Turbo II with an LS1 swap.
So far I love it, it's fun, unique and I can daily drive it.
I'll get some pics up in a bit.

And with the LS1, you're going to get better gas mileage on top of everything else. I'm not a big fan of the V8 swap but you're seeing the LS-series GM engines going into a lot of non-GM cars for a good reason.
Thanks for registering and welcome aboard, Ryan. Sounds like the swap was done right and you got a keeper there. There aren't many RX-7 guys who are gonna be happy to see what's been done to that FC on this board, though.

Haha whats gas mileage?! I'm getting less than 15. I'm not driving conservatively..but not wild either. I actually am thinking about selling it...putting in more than $10 a day and it's killing me.

Hey Ryan what's up. I'm obviously a new user as well I was considering going the same route with an LS1 in an FD...long story short I've helped a friend replace two rotary engines in under a year and although having a novelty engine is great..it's also very expensive! So i say good for you.

well the vqde vq revup and vq hr get around 18 to 20 stop and go and around 30 highway. so i am sure the guys with the ls1 and ls6 are not getting any better mileage than you. but i know my rx8 was horrible on gas. this rx7 i am working on doesn't seem to bad. i have never gotten on it, even though the owner told me to. just around townt he needle never moved.

This is a swap project I've been kicking around in my mind for a little while now.

On my last run to South FL for the Markham Park meet I got 25 mpg cruising at 75-80 mph.
In town, I last saw it at 19 mpg.
its all relative to the weight of your foot. I'm old, I drive slow and smooth.

Aluminum everything is available for either the v6 or the v8(350), as they are practically the same motor, and the internal parts between the motors are interchangeable. Maybe I'm wrong here but it seems as though the only difference in the long run is the amount of gasoline a person feels like pouring into the engine..... and also the cost of 2 extra cylinder upgrades
But hey, if I decide I dont like the v6 then my car will already be fully set up for the v8.

It's to select what RPM I want the shift light to come on at.
Thanks.

looking Good Rage. I'm considering doing the same thing. I've been doing a little research and for the cost of what it would take to rebuild my 13B, I could buy either an LS1 or for even less money i could buy a 5.3 and have more HP and better mileage. I know that probably isn't a popular topic on this site, but based on my very limited experiance with rotorys they are expensive to work on.

First time I see that gen with an ls1. Lots of people doing it in the late gen but not that much in that gen no?
Really nice work. Torque monster with this kind of engine under the hood
