New to this forum and new to rotaries!

Hey guys I made an account a while back but had nothing to post about until now. I finally got a rx7! I picked her up in ventura last night, shes a red 1989 Fc turbo II. The owner said he bought it off an older lady who bought it new in '89 and now I have her .

Ignore my bull terrier haha

86xxx original miles!

Welcome!!! That's one beautiful TII! So original and pure! You don't see many like that anymore and it's so nice to see an all original S5 TII!! Great find!

Thanks! shes not bad looking, but I just took her out for a drive and discovered a few things /: for starters it's got an idle issue. It idles fine at 3k but then drops to 1k then surges up to 1600ish and does that even when warmed up to temp. Ill be at a red light and itll still be surging. Then I stalled out pulling to my driveway(still a newb ) and it would not start back up. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sweet TII dude. Great low mileage example in red over black. Ouch on the hood dimple. It'll take a good body guy to pop out the Al hood, so take care.

Your idle surge issue is possibly due to a TPS needing calibration. Lookup a TPS check light, which is a tool you can fab yourself to set the TPS resistance first. Don't start tweaking the idle screw until you verify the electronics are dialed-in. Could be a vacuum leak as well, which will have you mapping all the vacuum lines under the UIM, which often need replacing due to roasting above the keg.

Everything you need to know about repairing, tuning and modifying that stock steed is here. The challenge is finding it sometimes until you learn to hunt (and trust, lol).

You've got some studying to do, so WELCOME TO THE FORUM,

And keep that mud off 'er!

I did some research and found a thread with this link and got 1.3k at idle then 4.5ish at WOT so I adjusted it to where it was 1k but my idle is still surging
