New FC owner, oh the choices
Hello all,
I just bought an 87 FC from a friend of mine. He got it out of a dumpster from a dealership (cash for clunkers ad) and couldnt do anything with it, so I got it for 250 bucks.
The motor and interior are shot but thats whatever as I was going to put a turbo 2 motor in it anyway (NA atm).
Kind of new to rotary motors, my roommate has an FD, and i've done some work with him on his.
So far my plan is to sale my current car (a boosted 2006 scion tc), and put the money into the FC. I'm thinking of a JDM S4 motor street ported, but from there i'm at a loss for what to do.
Id like to get about 450-500whp out of the car, I should have between 12-14k to put into it so an suggestions you guys have on making this thing a nice fast daily driven car will be appreciated.

Well id think you'd wanna go JDM s5 because the better horsepower. As for making 400-500 from the turbo 2 a great turbo setup and an agressive streetport could do the trick, or doing all the setup stuff like clearancing, balancing, etc. To make it able to rev for days. A bridgeport or an Aux bridgeport could get you up there faster and maybe even cheaper but it would hurt you streetability. I would recommend keeping it around 300-350 and upgrading the suspension to heck, but thats because I like curvy roads ^^. If you want help with build advice i recommend messaging Pineapple Racing or Racing beat. Racing beat has been working with Mazda and their racing program for years and helped devolop the engine and exhaust for the Mazda Furai. They will know everything you need to know and probably offer all the parts and services.

Welcome to the addiction known as Rotary power once you start you never really ever want to stop playing with them. I've sold one and a year later got another FC. I agree with Stratosfear deffentaly upgrade suspension. I would invest in all new bushings, upgraded sway bars, toe eliminator bushings for the rear, strut tower bars, under bracing front and rear, good set of Tein Super streets or comparable coil overs, wheels are unlimited 17's seem to be a good size for the FCs and upgrade the disc to slotted, it will drive better then most new cars if you do that.
Also looking for goodies from Japan talk to 87GTR on this forum. He can get you the rare hard to find in the US parts from Japan and is reasonable. His shipping cost are not bad either.
