I was able to score a sweet deal on a complete and mostly solid barn find '86 Rx7. Seller did not know how long or why it was parked but I look forward to getting into it. With a bit of a luck and searching this forum I'll have it up and running soon!

I am new also, but I just wanted to say good luck with your project. The 86 NA was my 1st and favorite 7!! I loved that car. I am in fd territory now so I have many things to consider, but once your na is running you are solid if you take care of her. I ran 198k on mine! Well, I bought her with about 53k and I put 140 plus on her. Open that exhaust and put an intake on her. I ran a RB header and high flow cat back to an hks Y and mufflers. I cant really recall., but my intake was a home made cold air with a cone (I am sure the cone was a k&n.) I redid the whole suspension and it was razor! I could go on forever, just wanted to say hi and wish you luck!

Sounds like you had a good run with it! What did you end up doing with it in the end? I’ll be stoked to get it running, if not I look forward to the experience of messing around with this rotary.

Well after the heatercore blew and she ran a little hot before she was shut down she ended up blowing an apex seal. She was sold. I ended up with an 86 TII, but sold her shortly after to finish up flight school. Now almost 20 years later I am back with the itch for another 7. The 3rd gen just seemed like the next step.

So I got it cleaned up a bit and changed oil, coolant, drained the old gas and tried to crank it after lubing up the seals with some mystery motor oil. It turns over but won’t start. Haven’t had a chance to get in there and diagnose.
Next step will be plugs and wires, check for compression and maybe inspect the fuel pump.
