New and desperate for help and answers

I have recently acquired a 1992 RX7 FDR1 is what I was told. 1 owner right hand drive imported from Japan. I know absolutely nothing about these cars I took this as a favor but keep getting told that its something special but then all i see is mixed information. Here is what I know he said it was a 1992 he got in in Japan while on duty brought it home to and happened to be based near Rob Dahm who did motor stuff and apparently, he is a big deal (see i know nothing). title says 1993 but i was told it was a 1992 it has a 10 digit vin and I was told it was like the 800th one made in japan, also is right hand drive not as valuable as LHD i keep seeing mixed reviews. Its blue and its really fast is all I know.

In Japan, they use the date a car was registered as its year. If the car was made in late 1992, it could well have been sold in 1993. Ask Akagi to search the VIN number for you. It will give you specs.

Also for $35 you can have a Vin search done in Japan which should give you some history. https://autocheck.jp/

It may be a Type R which was equivalent of a USDM Type R1.

The early production run number should add some extra value to the car. Depends on how much modification, and the quality of such modifications, whether they would affect value.

Post up some pics here and join the RHD lifestyle conversation.

Most RHD come with backseat. Four seater cars attracted less tax in Japan

Certainly is an early car.

Looks like one you can enjoy as is.

Get some basic tests done before you drive it too hard.

Rookie owner mistake, thinking redline is a target not a warning line.

Perhaps stay below 4000 rpm for the time being.

- Compression test
- smoke test, for air leaks
- run codes if stock ecu
- check ecu for any reported faults, if non-stock ecu
- cooling system pressure test
- mind your efr gauge (likely it has?)

Rob Dahm is the one who did motor work, he is suppose to be credible rotary engine guy from what I hear? And honestly i just would prefer to sell it where I live a lifted vehicle is more my style-harley bagger is going out also lol.

Did Rod Dahm post a project video for this car? You might want to try a scroll through you-tube.

Yeah. highly modified car, likely at no small expense. If you plan to sell you would really need someone that could understand and appreciate the build.

Still get the compression test.

So I just checked, it is a Type R. MSC code F109-2C0, built on December 28, 1991. Was repaired tho, the original color is NU Vintage Red.
