New (again!) 93 FD in NJ

I was the original owner of a brand new 1993 Montego Blue Touring RX-7 in the fall of 1992 in my early 20s. Sold it about 5 years later as other priorities took precedence. Happy to once again be the proud owner of another one, 20+ years later!

Question College Graduation Gift

I don't really know much about this type of vehicle, what I do know is that I would like to have one by the time I graduate college. I would love the help on what to look for and how to build it for the street use. And there are things called widebody kits as well, I have no idea which would be best for the street use.

Welcome to the forum!! That appears to be a beautiful example! I've always loved Montego Blue! How does this car compare to your first one? Do you know any of the car's history? Is it a low mileage example?

It's exactly the same as my first one, only 28 years older. It's reasonably low miles at 58k. It has a few items that need sorting out, but for the most part it's in excellent shape. I haven't been able to drive it any more than around the block as it's winter in NJ... snow and salt on the roads! I want to take it to the shop to have all of the fluids replaced and check out all the hoses and items that typically wear out. But have to wait for the salt to be totally washed off the roads. It needs new tires and shocks too. So will be getting everything done some time in March/April then will be hitting the road to enjoy it.

Here's my brand new one back in 1992...

@WJM ROTARIES thanks!

@mazdaverx713b Driving a brand new one in 92/93 truly was amazing. I was in my early 20s at the time, and when I first saw the ads for it being introduced, I was in love immediately. I didn't care what the sticker price was, I had to figure out how to own one. When I saw the Montego Blue color, with the tan leather, and the Touring package, it was a done deal.

It was an awesome car to drive. I lived in the San Francisco area at the time, and drove it on winding roads in the foothills, and up and down the coast many times, from San Francisco to Muir Woods to Wine Country to Monterey and everywhere in between. The speed, the acceleration, the handling, it was all breathtaking. It sucked you into the turns and spit you out the other side even faster than you entered. Stepping on the gas pasted you back against the seat. It was truly amazing to drive.

It was also great to be seen in. People would drive past me and then slow down to come along side me and give me thumbs up or smiles. And sometimes people would roll down their window at stop lights to ask me what kind of car it was, or what color it was.

All around it was a great car to own, and I'm really glad to own one again. I can't wait for the warm weather!

In 31 years of life, I don't think I've ever been more jealous of a persons experience....and I have an FD! That early 90's world was significantly different that the world we live in today, and I can only dream of an experience life that. Something I've yet to do with my FD is to drive down the California coast with the wind blowing through my hair, sun shining in my face, and the smell of burning fuel clogging my lungs. I am very happy for you, and welcome to the world's greatest rotary forum!

That sounds like an incredible experience! I live for driving moments like those! All of the memories are no doubt incredible and I'm very happy for you that you are able to live those once again!
