New 1st gen RX7 Owner here!
Just started it up for the first time in 6 months!
Previous owner was a friend, he's not much of a car guy and also was about to move to alaska, so I took it off his hands.
It's a 1985 GSL, has factory alloys, 5 speed transmission, and a kickin rad 80s cassette deck!
I didn't have a good camera with me today so I'll post more pictures soon, if anyone's interested!

Sweet! Check out www.furrin.org when you get a chance. They're our local car club.
Are there any rotary specific clubs or meets in the area?

I usually try to turn a few of the races into weekend rotary meets, and we actually get better turn out than for most "regular" meets. We usually get between 10 - 15 rotaries at the local races. On race weekends that involve both days, I usually get a few out of towners camping in my back yard, so we'll do a bonfire and bbq and a cruise if we have enough energy left.
What's your schedule like? You'll have to bring the car by sometime. I'm in the middle of a clutch job on my baby, so she's still in pieces while I work on her.

Yep - gray interior, in pretty nice shape.
Sounds like fun!
I'm pretty busy this week, I'm having a little meet/install day/bbq at my garage for local subaru guys. If you'd like you can drop by for that, obviously it's a subaru thing but you're still welcome of course.

Update
I finally forced myself to take a break from my other projects and work on the RX7.
I am currently rebuilding the carburetor!
I have disassembled it, soaked all the jets, bleeds, and the main body in cleaner, blown them out with compressed air, and have started reassembly. Pictures to follow.
I clayed and waxed it!
The original paint has plenty of color left in it, and a decent amount of shine. unfortunately the hood, front fenders, and part of the door were resprayed at some point, and the respray faded pretty bad. Once the car is all together I'll do a nice photo shoot, here's a teaser pic:
Misc other stuff:
I have ordered idler arm bushings, the stock bushings were TRASHED. when I took the nut and washer off and pulled the arm, I was able to just wipe the remains of the old bushing out with paper towel. Once I replace that it should fix up the steering feel a bit.
Other things that remain:
1. fuel pump is on headlight circuit. Kind of odd, I don't see evidence of lots of kludgy fixes, so not sure why this was done.
2. Fix gas gauge - probably related to item 1
3. Parking brake - I'm told it just needs a cable. We'll see about that.

Sounds good man. I don't know if you'll be up for it yet, but we're having an autocross event in Lansing weekend after this one (August 14/15). You can find details in the Midwest section (there is an autocross info thread stickied at the top) or at the Furrin group website. I will be there both days.
