n00b former S14a owner here
Hello everyone,
My name is Robert, I'm 31, been a car buff for... well a long time. I've gone through my share of fixed up cars, turbo prelude, 12 sec all motor civic hatch, and my most recent love, a 97 240sx with an S14 sr20 swap + bolt ons. I was planning on holding on to the 240 since it was a very clean specimen but other life goals got in my way like buying a house, getting engaged, etc... So now that I have those last 2 taken care of and can start to focus on my hobbies again, I've decided my next project will be an FD. I thought about getting another 240 and completing my previous plan but something about rotaries is fascinating to me; so few moving parts! So many people talk bad about them but from what I see, if you take the proper precautions (keep it cool, don't run lean, TUNING!) they can be very reliable/powerful engines! Also, I'll be looking to make 400+ on pump 91 cali suck gas which seems to be pretty easily attainable with a single turbo 35R 13b. Getting an sr20 to that level is possible, but the list of supporting mods you'd need on pump gas make it not as cost effective to me. I'm hoping when I'm ready I can adopt someone else's former project with most mods completed already. So yeah that's about it!

Welcome aboard, Robert! Grabbing someone's "almost done, I'll finish it here in a bit" project is def the way to keep costs down, just make sure you get a runner and don't fall for the old, "..it just needs a (insert part here...) to start up and run"...trick!

buying someone else project is stupid. i think. its lik buying a dog . normal people would buy it when they're puppies, not when they're two years old. the dog is already retarded in its own way and you cant do nothing about it. lol
hey robert its on u. i understand since you just trying to pick up where you left off at. just do you. this **** here is a passion. not an ethnicity

yeah buying someone halfway done project is saving you money. but this here is a passion! its like watching a baby grow up. ur vehicle being stock. then you come with the care and putting in ur hard earn cash, blood sweat and tears. just watch you car grow up in to a monster! with your own potential.

When I'm ready, if I find a clean stock FD with low miles I'll probably jump on it. The cleaner the better for me, fixed up or not, my priority will be in the overall condition of the car. That being said, if it happens to have a couple mods even better, but I'm not looking for someone's sad overly molested rice box. lol I just feel it would be unwise to turn down a clean car simply because it has some mods that I will likely end up getting anyway.
I look forward to learning as much as I can here with the wealth of knowledge available. Hopefully when I'm ready, with all your help and advice, I'll make the right decision!
