My name is Tom
Let me introduce myself, my name is Tom. I am 60 years old and have lived in Ohio most of my life. I can remember watching the tv commercial for the 1984 car sliding sideways thru the mountain leaving black marks. My father sarcastically commented "that is just what teenagers need to see". My first thought was kids can't afford $9,999 and my second thought was I have to have one. I bought a 79 car that year for $4,500 and wow how cool I was! I put a roll cage in her and raced the ITS class within the SCCA back in 1989. I started last and finished last but again how cool I was! Over the years I have raced a Camaro, couple of Renaults, and now back to a 79 Rx7. She has been a race car since 1991, approaching 100 races. I currently hold the pro track record at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the IT7 class at 1:45.038. I hope to get the club track record this year as I am only 6 tenths off. Back in October I found, out of the blue, a 79 GS with only 26,862 miles, original owner. The intentions are to flip it so I will be posting pics and such later in the appropriate section.
Wow that was a lot about me, kinda know these 1st gen cars.
