Miata drifter from OKC
What's up guys. Just signed up on here, figured I'd share a little and do the whole intro thing.
Basically, I'm from Oklahoma City, I daily a '78 280z, and drift a 1990 Miata.
Slid the Miata last season on very basic mods, welded diff, wheels, coilovers, bucket seat, and a radiator upgrade.
Improved some, but the powerplant is holding me back a lot right now.
So.... over the winter, she'll be getting a swap. I was going to do the tried and true 1.8 swap, but an S4 13b popped up for sale locally, and I'm planning on picking it up.
While it's not an undocumented swap, it's one of the less commonly performed. Mainly because rotaries are considered less reliable among the Miata folk. I guess.
I was going to go with an S5 13b, but this one came up and apparently they're more desirable on account of the mechanical oil pump. I've been doing a lot of reading and research on 13b's as of late, since I don't want to go into it knowing nothing about them.
The bellhousing is interchangeable with my transmission, so all I have to do is fab up motor mounts. I'm not to shabby with fabricating, so it should be a breeze.
The wiring is the only thing I'm predicting problems with, but that's why I'm here. Everyone says this is the place to be for rotaries.
Plans for right now are just dropping it in there stock. I want to do a street port, exhaust, ITB's, and standalone, but those'll probably come next season.
Over the winter, I'm planning on a full cage, knuckles, a new diff, and the swap. Should keep me busy.
Anyway, here's pics!

Thanks! I'm trying to shave the weight down to around 1950lbs without me in it. I'm about to order the cage and knuckles. There's a complete 1.8 rear end at the salvage yard here that I need to go pick up as well.
The daunting thing about the 13b swap is the wiring. Being undocumented, it kind of sucks.
