Mazda RX7 rhd Type R - Netherlands

Hye Everyone,

I'm Joffrey from the Netherlands. I live there but I am originally from France. I am the owner of a grey 1993 RX7 type R. I imported it from England 3 weeks ago and I can finally drive it.

I was not supposed to buy the Mazda at the beginning and I was more into buying a toyota Supra twinturbo, but after the test drive of the mazda, I liked it so much that i changed my mind. The car runs perfectly except some little problem:

- Need to convert it back into kilometers
- Boost controller is giving me a pressure of 0.6bars max, probably a quick setting to make so it can go to 0.8 bars
- Little electric problem coming from one of the electric boxes under the bonnet. The electricity shuts down once in a while and when i shake a bit one of the boxes, it works again. It just happens when i screw up starting at a traffic light and the engine stops, it doesn't restart.

Concerning the equipments:
- Ohlins suspensions
- HKS Fcons
- Boost controller Greddy
- 3 discs clutch
- Stainless steel exhaust with no catalysator anymore

I'll put some pics later when it'll be a little cleaner.

hiya mate, i am new aswell, but i had a similar proplem with mine with i cutting out and for some reason it only did it from a standstill. the problem i had with mine was 1 of my wire coming from the battery was shorting, thus cutting the electrics and blowing a fuse, i presume it could be the same thing, however i dont know why it would be fine after a quick rattle of what i presume is your fuse box.

my advice is check all of you fuses and wires coming from them, make sure there is no bare wires,

hope this help

Thanks, I am supposed to check this week end what is the problem. I'll make a post about it. The engine bay needs a complete clean up so I'll take a look at it at the same time.

they made the efini rx7 from 1992-1995 as the type R, RB and RZ

series 7
minor updates on car like 16bit ecu, and was then sold as the mazda rx7 not mazda efini

series 8
later on the RS came along in 1999 along with the new RZ same as the rs just a little bit lighter the new series 8 rs and rz, then had better abs, better ecu and standard 17" wheels.

Been a while I haven't posted here. Battery problems solved, I needed to change the battery plugs cos the old one were all corroded. I found some stock wheels to change the ugly S14 wheels, and mounted a nice set of HKS filters with a japspeed rigid piping. I still have my HKS turbo timer, boost gauge and AFR gauge to install!!
